Nokia TS smartphones shipments rose 4070% in a year

Majority of smart phones now have touch screens

Quote:
“Looking at the whole of 2009, it is no great surprise to see Apple at the top of the table of leading vendors of touch-screen smart phones,” said Canalys analyst Tim Shepherd, “But Nokia stands out as a very close second, seeing tremendous growth thanks to models such as the Nokia 5800 and N97. And Nokia was actually the leading vendor by volume of touch-screen smart phones in the final quarter of the year.

5800 was released in 4th quarter of 2009 hence the low quantity.

4th quarter 2008 maybe...
The sales were made by 5800 and N97! We are talking about Nokia, anyway... but in 2011 you will see different numbers!

Samsung is so low despite of flooding cheap TS phones? Interesting. And RIM is 2nd biggest smartphone OS after Symbian, not Apple. Don't believe the Apple hype!

That "hype" is actually being contested by Nokia. When steve jobs said in his iPad keynote address that "apple is the world's largest mobile devices company" - Nokia argued the point the very next day.

And they are right to argue this. Apple are not and never will be the world's largest in that regard.

Remember those cheap Samsungs are not Smartphones and I am not sure how many by them again...

But we are playing with names here... who cares a phone is a phone. I guess there are statistics who is selling most Wifi phones, camera phones, sliders, flips, flops...

Anyway for some reason Samsung Bada will be counted as a Smartphone so they will do better this year and now Nokia has over ten TS phones against just one at the beginning of 2009...

Nokia can release "Terminators" anytime but they wont until they loose some market share/money! They are too greedy...

Nokia isn't a person. And they already lost market share and money.

Ellendil, i know that, but still, they lost their market share and money in 3 of 4 quarters last year and there were no "terminators". I just wanted to prove him wrong, because that kind of big company is not behaving like a child.

For me Terminators = iconic devices!
So... Nokia had only 5800 (wich sold damn well) and N97 wich again sold well... but this only for being "Nokia", not by launching revolutionary products! This selling model wont last too long...
Samsung/LG are flooding the market with "cheap" TS devices... so this can`t be good for Nokia, i guess!

They don't need to beef up the spec sheet to sell devices, look at apple, they've been selling crap for years and no one is complaining as long as it looks good and you can flick the screen
a spec sheet doesn't make sales anymore, this is not 2006
