I'm just so much happier to be back with my Bold and BB Os really i was shocked that in the 9 months since i left S60 so little has changed in fact since i first started using S60 in 2006 so little has changed. I just can't understand that still after so long and so many new feature packs and now even V5 there is still the call log bug. The browser hasn't changed in that period of time either and the built in mail client is still rubbish to, so i loved the i8910 HD but was disappointed with S60. So for now i have no intention of replacing it or getting an N97, although i am eager to see when the N900 is going to be released as that's Maemo.

Marc
Thanks for the feedback on this issue.

as i read in another forum there is the rumour that the fm transmitter can be activated by entering some code in the manufacturer mode (don't ask me how to get there).

i can not yet post links so i'll describe how to get there...

go the the site telefon-treff(.)de
go to their forum ... then to the samsung forum
there is a i8910 thread ... open it ... go to page 159 from that thread .. the first post

translation is:
you gotta type #22822*# and then the call button to enter the manufacturer-mode. here you can activate the fm-transmitter by dialing 110993383 + call button.

you will find the fm-transmitter in the options of the music player ...

Anyone tried this? Why the hell would Samsung hide it like that? Seems silly.

there are some law regulations that fm transmitter are prohibited in some countries.

nokia does just add a sticker to the phone which says "use of fm transmitter might be against the law", but samsung is more restrictive ... that is also why you can not record phone conversations

Is that why it might be disabled and hidden by default?

No body willing to try and enable it?

I have a feeling they fall into a 'grey' area of the UK law.

Exclamation Orange I8910 text message problem

I just rang orange and told them about my text messages not showing the senders name. They said alot of people have had the same problem and they are working with Samsung to fix it.

I hope they come up with a fix soon as it is really enoying. (I'm guessing it will be a software (firmware) update.

It almost seems like early adopters of this handset on Orange are being used as beta testers for it's OS.

@petar2k12,

Well it sold out within 4 days which is pretty good going if you ask me as I'm pretty sure orange must of had to order plenty to get an exclusive. Just checked and it's still out of stock they really must be doing very well with it IMO.

If i was buying it just to look at Video and pictures and browse over WiFi i would of risked having another unit.
Marc
The network i am on they don't have yet 3G/HSDPA, end off this year normally the network will have 3G.

The N97 has it and the Satio too but the i8910 comes without kinetic scrolling for the browser. Is it possible that kinetic scrolling will comes with opera mobile or with any other 3rd party software?

And where else have you seen that story? If you are not interested don't click.

Seems like some good news for those looking to be on a contract outside of Orange in the UK.

Not sure what your problem is.

Centrinos Those are some of the best snaps I've seen taken with a mobile phone. I think the I8910 is perfect for the quick snaps. far too many people expect too much from a camera phones. i can't see them improving too much in the near future apart for the size of the image, well not to SLR camera standards yet..

Ps..
Has anyone debranded from orange yet?

Centrinos can you make a comparison camera pic from innov8 and i8910? how do you find the capacitive screen, is it unscratchable or does it need to be screen protected?

thanks!

ps. excellent pics btw!

Super Chimp, do you think innov8/i8910 have same image quality? Can you provide a link where a comparison has been done.

As I told you before my newer i8510 has 5/Mar/09 firmware which I guess it's the latest, but I was wrong. All the bugs are still there, including key lock. After recording video, it only has audio when played in cell, not in pc.

Looking at Centrinos pics, i8910's image quality is simply wowwwww

I think one of the main review sites might compare the two of them when they get around to reviewing the i8910. I might do too if I decide to get an i8910, but that is up in the air at the moment.

I don't have the Innov8 enymore, but what i can see intill now the picture quality is the same as the Innov8, if not better, also in full resolution , you can see/download full resolution pictures here

Capactive screen is great, it is sensitive like the iPhone screen, capactive screens ar normaly scratch free, so no need to put on a screen protector.

i am sorry Radu, but i can not check this, since i have not yet bought that device. i just posted it here, because i read that in another forum and i am also curious about it. if that would work it was very fine.

i will buy the device only if there is a fix for the audio while recording video...
