You guys can get the full spec info, as well as a pic, here on Symbian-Guru. I broke the news back in May, and will be quick to let you know of any other updates I get.

Nokia is waiting way too long to announce that phone... So long that there`re already dozens of chinese copycats- and the real deal isn`t even announced yet!
It can be the new n95, but I don`t give a damn about n82 anymore.... More exciting phone to wait is g800 IMO. |

m.h, don't really see the connection (other than the camera) between these two, but you obviously fell for the Samsung and that's your thing to decide. But still these two aren't (going to be) in the same league.
sms, nice find indeed! That means that it should be less than 1 month.. can someone remind me if an announcement/happening/party is known to be held within this timeframe? |

If it's FP2 then it will win the battle between it and the N95 8GB, if not then I'm not sure at all which I'll get

now here's someone with a good taste!
you can't blame him for choosing the best Mweb6161, I think germany isn't infested with PAYG phones as England.
![]() Aidan James, Nnorway, N78 will be the first with FP2, and it's coming in the end of Q1, see my post in the "nokia announcements" thread. and yes, I agree, we're bored with FP1, we want some new blood in the veins of our nokias. |

Didn't they say FP2 would launch only on 2008?
I think this N82 will be a mix between N95 (GPS, 5MPX cam) and N81 (smaller screen, sensitive buttons...) At least we won't have to wait for the beggining of december. Maybe they antecipated this to give more atention to the TS phone in December's Nokia World? ![]() |

Now there is a symbian-guru rumour, that the camera module has been upgraded to 7 megapixels. That would explain the delay

Don't think so...and even if, without a serious innovation in lens technology and/or positioning, I don't think 7MPx would bring a noticeably better quality.

Can't see the N82 holding any appeal over the N95-8gb TBH. |

mweb6161, are you really comparing the all-in-one Symbian candybar to the "dumbfone" g800 (with Samsung's UI "lagging behind when it comes to the core functionality" - quoted from Eldar
- even compared to the S40 and A200 fones...), with nothing more to offer than the camera? Also - there are many who don't like the double-slider form of the N95-8GB, the reasonably bigger volume/size and the missing lens cover. Those people would not hesitate to choose the "N82" over the slider even if they lose the large flash memory and screen. -imho- |

Believe it or not athos not EVERYBODY wants a smartphone
, and the vast majority of performance enquiries on here relate to the camera. |

mweb6161, you're right about not everyone needing a smartfone, but still these two shouldn't be compared, since noone uses their fones for taking pictures all day. I think G800 has no direct rival when "not being smartfone" is a criterion (not even k850 or w910 can be compared to it and I don't even think that there is any "dumbfone" more expensive than what g800 is said to be - 550€).
I was only saying that if you realizes that you _can_ live with the Symbian, you may find better solutions for the same money (I could even bring up i550 which - afaik - will also be sold for ~550€, and is the best Samsung offering to date). imho |

Nnorway, I do think that one TS device will be the N95 "successor" - in the same do-it-all manner. So, I really think they will make one of these touchscreen-handsets as feature-packed as possible, with others coming along that are a little lower-end. And I think the high-end one will be the first, to mark Nokia's reappearance in the touchscreen-device-class with a loud bang
![]() Of course, it's just a gut feeling, without anything to back it up ![]() |

I haven't really checked these UAP xml files in the past, but I looked in this and saw that the model name is "N82-1". You think this means there will be any future N82 upgrades, like how the N95 recently got new model upgrades?

Freddo, there used to be different suffixes attatched to the american versions or to the "planned" versions at least. I think N95-1 is the original EU version with smaller battery and lens cover, and the N95-3 is the US 3G version (and the N95-8GB should have a third number, but I can't find it right now). There were two N73 models of which I believe only one was released (as of now - the ME version doesn't seem to hold any difference spec wise).

I would rather have the OZ + 5MP of the G800 than the 7MP & no OZ of the N82. Afterall it seems to be no mobile phone maker has got the best from 5MP let alone moving onto 7MP. It sounds to me like a gimmick to help the marketing people to sell it to the public as the next big thing.

I agree that optical zoom is more important than the extra 2 megapixel. I would still choose the N82 over the G800 overall, though, unless G800 turns out to have almost all the features of the N82
![]() How sure are we that it will be 7 megapixel? Would be quite a jump to make already, seeing as most other manufacturers are only know coming with their 5-megapixel models. I can see the logic behind it, though, as it would position it alongside most compact digital cameras in most consumers' minds, since they are often 7-8 megapixel these days. |

7mp in a phone right now is just plain stupid imho.. they should concentrate more on making better sensors at the moment, to get quality thats comparable to average digicams.. 7mp isnt better than 3mp if the quality sucks.. of course a higher resolution is always nice, but its not the main point which makes a good cam imho!
