[QUOTE=icaka;705332]I'd say "N85" is in fact N60... makes sense to me.
![]() QUOTE] where did you get that N60??? btw Nokia is ending the numbers of Nseries from 70 to 100 so maybe new naming is coming out |

No, no, that was just a joke about N85 being too mid-endish for the "N85" name, which btw it won't possess in the final version. Calling it "N85" was just a mistake by the bloggers. And N60 sounds pretty low-end, doesn't it? ![]() |

Finally Nokia is entering the touch screen devices market very very very powerful!!!
Prepare for many announcements regarding this issue. Nokia is going to offer many, really many phones with touch screens in many forms in all categories. From mid-end smart phones to high end. Also S60 5th edition is getting a major facelift, new icons, new animations, new navigation. The big party starts this fall and will continue in 2009 ![]() I am very sure Eldar can confirm the above as well ![]() |

Exactly.
![]() It may be lacking in some features no one is disputing that but for what it does it is still yet to be matched and based on what we have seen from Nokia they wont be in the near future either. Um ok. |

Uchiha Sasuke, are you really that dense that you think a prototype of something that has at least another 10 months of development time and is running on an emulator does reflect the end product in every detail?
Or are you just PO'ed that you killed off the iPhone thread and this is your way of venting? |

It says that N85's got a 3.2in display in 360x640 resolution. Can anyone confirm this? btw, i've already found a mistake in the information - the phone doesn't have a xenon flash. |

Just another TS phone.... ONtopic 5pteron, I don't trust that site. I would trust something like GSMarena, phonearena or MR. Can anyone tell me if there's any s40 device with GPS? |

http://forum2.mobile-review.com/show...postcount=5051 Right now, there are none, though. You could use a BT GPS accessoire in combination with the 6600's series, but that's about it... |

Like I mentioned previously, there are no official signs on the device that it's N85. Let me tell what I think.. This N00 would be a prototype that will never see the sun. However, it seems that nMIK-3 and chlettn have seen something new recently.

Super Chimp, I doubt that any real info is behind that mentioned post...
And anyway, that has little to do with the fact that a short video about a rather early SW prototype that doesn't even run on real hardware is a poor way to assess the performance of an upcoming UI, don't you agree? |

birdwatcher, thanks!
That think looks really small compared to its older siblings... ![]() ...and almost ridiculously thin against the three other devices. ![]() Picture quality seems pretty terrible though ![]() |

Will the North American version be released at the same time as the Euro version? AT&T is rumored to be getting the E71. What differences with that version have (crippled WiFi, GPS services, etc)? Does anyone want to buy my E61i ![]() |

Hi Mweb
Have a great time and all and any information will be greatly appreciated, i suppose the only real question is seeing it's so slim is how many can you get in our picket and leave with,LOL @US As said by others i really don't see how you can judge the S60 Touch UI from what was only a proof of concept video. I am pretty sure that Nokia will give us all we are used to from S60 as they have already stated backwards compatibility for previous S60 apps. As to how good the actual interface will be at this stage no one knows for sure. But i am sure many will take function of having the prettiest UI as for most that is far more important and most certainly is for me. I will always take function over form and just because something looks great if it doesn't function well enough it not very relevant is it. Marc |

First of all Nokia showed S60 Touch and it had an amazing interface, it was a true iPhone competitor. It had cool features like being able to flip the phone over 180 degrees on a table to silence it. It truly was Nokia taking it to the next level. It looked in my opinion to be better than what the iPhone offers as it would at least be similar to it's easy to use and futuristic UI yet hopefully still pack in all of Nokia's hardware features. Then however they demoed Touch on a PC / Tablet. Regardless of how far they are on, how it might change it was a disappointing demo. It was nothing that was demoed before and instead was the same old S60 with touch support, that was it. Why demo it in the first place? Now I have a theory on this. The S60 with the new UI will be called S60 5.0. It however isn't ready yet and won't be for a bit. It's the UI that Eldar said his daughter can use really easily. Easy to use phone UI's are important, a lot of people struggle to find options and operate the more complex features of their phones. It'll come but not in time for Tube. For Tube Nokia will use S60 3rd Edition FP3. It'll be the same as FP2 + touch controls (And probably a few other tweaks of course). Instead of waiting for the new UI to come, Nokia feels they need to enter the touch screen market sooner rather than later. So it's a stop gap solution until the real UI comes along to combat the growing number of TS models. If it's anything like the first video then it's going to be really good and I'm looking forward to it. Touchscreen UI's is where the development is going to go at present, maybe it won't last but it's the short term future if you ask me. Even if it makes up a small percentage of sales, it's where you'll gain good press and boost your brand if you have a high profile TS device. Now this is all just my opinion, I'm no insider. It could well be why the Tube isn't an N series device because it's not the real answer to the iPhone. I know they say of a higher end model (Features wise) coming shortly after but if it doesn't have the new UI it's not the real answer either. Like Dogmann, I would find it hard to go back to a device with a smaller screen when I browse so much. So future devices for me will need to be touchscreen or like the E90 as well. So for those of you who don't want one of these larger devices, don't browse on them for too long because it spoils you ![]() |
