"Bcoz it doesn't seem to exceed the Nokia in anything - except the 3,5 jack"all future n series phones will come with wi-fi and 3.5mm jacks.

kII, yes, it was said all right. But I don't recall the 3,5 port mentioned in connection with N82. That's all I meant - I sure hope it would have the 3,5 though.

if you aren't into smartfones, why do you rule out 6500s? Is it the lower pixel count?
Actually, no. First thing- I don`t like that design.
Second- I don`t prefer s40 because it looks boring (my dad has an 6280 and after few minutes the UI had become boring to me)
Third- no lens cover
Fourth- too small upgrade from my w800 IMO

Phone is great, but it isn`t my cup of tea.

so any idea of the announcement dates of these two phones, plus the slider with the stereo speakers that playdead mentioned. i assume that that will be the samsung answer to the w960 and nokia n81?

The i550's spec list is amazing if the mentioned size is true - but why did they choose that design? C'mon Samsung, you've got great looking candybars (U100, E590), and now you want to use that silvery abomination? Ugh...

I just hope they either change a few things about the design or that it looks much better in real life...because the features are almost too good to pass by.

1. They _did_ have nice candybars (like x700, i300, and maybe now i600)...
2. The design isn't that bat imho - at last they don't stick to that funeral-black they couldn't get rid of for too many years.
3. Good sign for you that they do tend not to stick to the initial design most of the times.

chlettn it's made of metal and looks nice in reality. Remind me nok6500 series materials!
Specs aren't high considering that N82 is almost the same in looks and size but got a lot better camera and wi-fi...

Great. No wi-fi. Then I don`t see the point of this phone. It`s a better investment to buy w960 IMO

Even without WiFi, the i550 is leaps and bounds ahead of the W960 imho?

I'd gladly give up a bit of camera quality and WiFi for great build quality, nice materials and slimness...that's why I think the i550 is (in theory) a very interesting model. But the current design is just not for me - hopefully I feel the same as you when I see it in real life.

I really think Samsungs smartphone division should just use the same designers as the other divisions - the i570 is just so disproportional and weird (even uglier than the i620) imho...

But at least quite small compared to other QWERTY-equipped handsets...(Sizeasy)

In that case, Motorola should sue every company which copied their keypad, but you have a point here.

Samsung P520 looks so small. Same size like credit card. Unfortunately there is no wi-fi.

Julia, thanks! What a nice device

The interface seems a little sluggish, but otherwise quite cool - I like the minimalistic icons! And now we also know what Samsung meant about the Drag'n'Drop interface they mentioned with the F700...

since the F700 is not ready yet, so they came out with this? *shrugs*

or is it at the verge of being canceled, or they have already canceled it?

imho
f310 promises to be ridiculously unusable like it's older sister
f330 has no reason to exist - seems to be an exact rehash of u700
i450 likewise - seems to know exactly what i400 knows (in a duller form)

That's a pretty big slider by today's standard. I hope it has a huge touch (sensory) screen and some very nice features. Or else they should at least have made it a bit thinner.

I don't think it is a dummy, but the plastic looks a bit unfinished to in a few pictures. I guess it's a prototype?

And I think the display shows S60 in the pictures with the hand - even if only very faintly...

Anyway, nice to see the 3.5mm jack!

I wounder if the will equip i450 with that ICE-technology (improved audio that they have developed with B&O ). As far as I can remeber Elder and other writers praised the sound quality on F300, U600, but they also missed the ability to use standard 3,5mm headsets. Now Samsung has the opportunity...
