Motorola Rokr E8 is 115 x 53 x 10.6 mm big for example but it has a smaller LCD. Two mm shorter, this is nothing. I think the size is quite good for this phone.

But then again, the E8 isn't really what could be called small either...

I thought you meant the lenght and in your screen it looks similar. And if you mean the wide, E8 is a little bit wider than the ZN5 but yes it's not small.

Wow ZN5 looks marvelous, i think this morpd keypad will be the next big thing in the near future beside Touch-screen.

too bad the screen is way too small and the 3.5mm jack is placed at the odd place

Well, the back is IMO weird and ugly looking... That pic even does it's best to hide the cam module which is sticking out quite a bit. Front I like, but not the back...

I like the back. But can't like the front mainly because of the ugly keypad.

K850i can shake, but the C902 is the true competitor to this phone, 5 megapixel caemra in a 10mm thin body, and touch sensitive keypad controls like this phone (even if they aren't morphing or have haptic feedback)

nokia has a carl-zeiss lens... now moto has a kodak lens... I wonder who SE, LG, and Samsung would partner up with?

Motorola logo killed the front. Moto should stop putting their logo in the front, makes the phone really ugly.

SE is SONY + ERICSSON. They are parter since 2001. I dont think they'll need another partner, do they? and beside walkman is there parter too. Hello!! SONY ERICSSON WALKMAN PHONE.

LG is lately using Scheinder Kreuznach optic lens. They might use it for from now on.

Samsung ............ Dont know

I really like the ZN5 from looking at those three "official" illustration. I really hope that it would be a quick-launch.

A 2.4'' screen is very much welcome...

SE has his foto-brand. It's Cybershot. Cybershot is sonys camera brand. And they use it in their phones.
Don't think that carl zeiss means that nokia has better lenses than unbranded samsung (though they have better cameras).

Famous brand camera is not guaranted have great photo than un-famous brand camera. Example: For now the best HD Camcoder is Sanyo brand than Sony HD Camcoder. You can't guaranted Sony Cybershot is the best than other brand.

since when is 2.4'' big? N73 has 2.4'' and many other Nokia's mid-range.

Moto should've put at least 2.6'' in ZN5

Sorry I never said it is big but 2,4'' is also not small. And we know ZN5 is not a high-end phone. Texel has a 2,6'' LCD for example.

.... you're kidding right? SONY is not a brand of Lens. Neither is ERICSSON a brand of lens.

sure everybody knows they're partners... BUT SE phones still doesn't carry a brand of LENS/OPTICS...

cybershot is a line/range of digital cameras NOT a brand of Lens or Optics... I think it was named to cellphones as a marketing gimmick.... to make people think that they're buying phones that's as good as a full digicam. But we all know it's not.

Quote:

Schneider optics are used by Kodak digicams... so seeing that the "kodak" brand name is tacked on to a motorola (the phone above), I dont know if it's really the one used by LG. Or if kodak would permit LG to display a brand name in their phones.

Quote:
Samsung ............ Dont know
Early last year, there were talks of Samsung teaming up with Nikon for their phones... but that topic fizzled out into nothing. So there's no indication of Samsung using a "branded" lens.

cheers!

I agree fully... "branded" optics does not guarantee good performance.

but noticing the performance of the n82 so far, and its winning of the TIPA Awards for camera phone of the year, says something about its quality so far.

cheers!

nokia = carl zeiss
motorola = kodak
LG = schneider keuznach
SE = ?
samsung = ?
RIM = ?
Apple = ?

cheers!

Um, Apart from original S700, I don't think so(Doesn't Nokia have exclusive rights to CZ since that phone??)!

As for SE, their hardware varies: K770 uses a Samsung sensor, for example ...and all lenses are generic......

It does & that makes it something of a joke as an imaging device.

Even SE have moved away from this ancient video resolution.

Why get this when you can get an N82 with VGA @ 30fps or a Viewty with the same or even the K850 which manages at least QVGA.

Its only decent if its camera can live up to expectations. If it doesnt then what? It will be nothing more than another overhyped ovepriced flop. Not trying to sound negative but Moto dont really do any favours for themslelves.

Did you not have a look at the chinese link on the previous page? ZN5 outperformed both the N82 and K850 on all the shots (except N82's flash shot IMO).

And once again, Motorola are taking their sweet time for announcing the ZN5

Anyway, in the meantime, the VE75 re-surfaced in a couple of pictures:
-Dual SIM
-2.6" screen with 400x240 pixels, 18 bit color depth
-2MPx cam

Maybe there are more specs, but I can't read Czech, so...

The first photographs of the new Motorola VE75 for two SIM cards

16.5.2008 Adam Novбk 16.5.2008 Adam Smith
Motorola is preparing its first mobile phone, manage to work with two SIM cards simultaneously.

Review photos

Motorola will become after Samsung's next great producer, which offers mobile, with the support of two SIM cards working at the same time. The planned new construction VE75 lacks all the design elements iconic RAZR. The thickness of the phone also mention the popular razr.

New Motorola VE75 offer large in size TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, which can receive 262 000 colors. The display has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a diagonal measurement of 2.6 inches. The photography will serve megapixel camera, not music player, slot for memory cards and Bluetooth.

In the meantime, we do not know whether Motorola plans to offer model VE75 for two SIM card on the European market.

That's Samsung D880 Dual SIM release around October 2007. Motorola A840 Dual SIM release since Q1, 2004.

This is some facts:

It's kinda-sorta dual mode between GSM and CDMA - with only one of these two active at a time. Not really a dual-SIM phone.

And anyway, Samsung had a similar phone out back then as well, so...
