everyone would love to see moto come back with a huge bang.. but they cant even release Z10 and E8 on time.. and they are not even media monster to begin with.

Not to mention the big crisis inside the company lately.

The Skarven has to be spectacular otherwise it will lose the battle. There will be plenty of n95-type phones this year, so Skarven has to be very special to be a hit.

That spyshot from a few months ago makes Skarven look rather nice - something that can't really be said about the G810 imho (and I'm pretty sick of the N95 design as well, tbh)...

Anyway, eomer mentioned that development for it is hard because of the non-standard screen resolution...that alone could very well set it apart imho.

I'm hoping for the best...if Moto goes belly-up now, I think we'll lose out on a lot of great upcoming stuff

Wasn't the Z8 kind of 'announced' like two or three times? I'm afraid this is the same with Z10. My money is on that we'll see Z10 presented again on World Mobile Congress in a week as Motorola's 'new' 'multimedia monster'... And maybe again at CeBIT in March?

I don't think that they are going to shut down already.... Motorola placed a teaser for a multimedia device at the internet and besides that they told me that there are going to be some new devices at MWC.

yes, it is z12. The bottom part is the part of the screen which is 240x400. This look may not be final though

Hmm interesting...are you sure about that resolution? It somehow seems a bit weird considering the aspect ratio of that "control area" screen...

And can that screen be used in conjunction with the main screen - ie watching a movie spread over both screens, as there doesn't seem to be a visual border (or only a tiny one) between them?

Lovely...much more understated compared to Z10...almost looks like a love child of Z10/Z8 in that pic......

Looks like two dimples on the bottom of the slide section(like E8), to mark out green/red keys for fast access...yes, some lovely potential here......

(Just a shame Z10 isn't released yet, doesn't bode well)

The TS should not be limited in functionality in the end, I will tell you later when I put my hands on newer sample. It is 2,8" btw.

E8 is still nice even in 2008. Spectacular design, 4GB of memory, high quality sound etc... Look at SE W890 for example: less specs for higher price

E8 is a very nice device, I would rather buy it than w890 or even 5310.. But the price is astronomical. W890 costs also a lot, but things like 3g, hspda and 3 mp camera module simply cost .

Very interesting! What's the screen resolution of the main screen, anyway? If the control area screen is 400x240, is the main screen 400 pixels wide as well (sounds weird, as I've never seen a screen with that resolution)?

I don't know many details for now... Camera is 5ive megapixels with a flash and cover, but z12 isn't camera flagship, which the candybar is with kodak branding.
I hope people would like this phone, this is the one which should turn motorola back...

m.h, why do you think that E8 should be expensive? Is 300 euros too much for 4 GB of memory, high-quality sound, expensive materials and design?

ver, not for me , but for teenagers and younger people is expensive.
5310 costs less than 200 euros, and it offers similar package like e8 (not including the 4 gb of memory and design) .

I guess it gonna be all-rounder like N95 currently is, without some specific focusing on. Boarding wifi, 5mpx, hsdpa, nice screen and casing + SymbianOS it can really be among best selling phones, at least, unless Motorola won't get some ridiculous price for it like 700eur or sth, and knowing moto it's quite possible, for example looking at Z8 price right now.
