- Glass front face - won't it be easily brakeable?

otherwise, looks good but too long. maybe it's the perspective..
but with a 1.3mp camera.. ??

Yeah, I would think so too. But if you take a look at the iPod video, a glass front face is pretty good looking, but you should never let it slip out of your hands.

It's supposed to be as big as "a double pack of chewing gum". I think it's not that long, but it gives that impression because it's not wide anymore. To me it looks like the size of the W800i or maybe a tat longer.

I heard rumours about a new type of flip feature phone to be announced towards end of summer/early autumn but knew no other details other than it would have some kind of aesthetic wow factor.
Maybe this is it?
Picture is not very clear but even so I can imagine that this will be very popular fashion phone.
Motorola really is at the cutting edge of form-factor design.
There's one or 2 others that I have heard/know about but not seen pix of with stunning designs.

There has been a lot of rumors about a Motorola SCPL, a successor to the SLVR series. Again a phone that's suppossed to be even thinner and smaller. Motorola even made a little hint/joke about it: http://images.gsmarena.com/l/reviews...marena_017.jpg

There have been lots of images of dimensions of SCPL on the net.
Haven't seen a pic rendered or real of it yet.
This "canary" looks pretty exciting, hope more pix appear soon.

Yet another Razr...the glass surface looks nice imho, but I think it will look spoiled in a few seconds.

How long can Motorola milk the RAZR for? All this is the V3i with glass casing. I doubt Windows Mobile 5 will show up on it.

SCPL is pronounced more or less like "scalpel", which is "a very sharp knife that is used for cutting through skin and flesh during an operation" (definition courtesy of Cambridge dictionary).

You're welcome alexandr3

Anyway, nice pics o' Mighty one

The next "RAZR" has some big boots to fill, and Moto seem to have taken the more conservative route as far as design is concerned?

Reminds me a bit of all the success stories in business; first they hit the goldmine with an unprecedented original killer idea, but then they want to play it safe and come up with a lame sequel.

First we had the RAZR, then PEBL, then SCPL.... what's next? CLVR (cleaver) for a Moto Communicator?

Considering Motorola's track record, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided not to put it into production.

WTF is that? im not the BIGGEST fan of how the v3 looks...but it looks a million times better from what i can get from them 2 pictures...as someone said above me, it looks like a lowend RAZR, not that the RAZR is high end anymore. come on motorola make us something that is not a bloody RAZR!!!

The Canary is a very good handset and will surprise a lot of poeple. Its aimed at a different part of the market to RAZR. More like PEBL buyers than RAZR buyers. Rumour has it there are other new RAZRs coming including HSDPA.

One difference i see its that this new RAZR is less wide that the past razor, thats why its longer and i think a lot of people would like that more cause it didnt look good to many people cause it was too wide.

Franz, Indeed, in many ways Motorola seems to be copying Nokia's strategy of developing follow on handsets with only minor design differences. Look at the 6x10, 6230/6230i, N70/N72 etc. Given how many 6230 and V3 have been sold this is probably not a bad thing.

My point was that the next RAZR seems to be a lot more feature packed than the V3 or V3i as its UMTS and has HSDPA.

Some info

Well, it's actually a 2 megapixel camera, that info isn't correct. I'm friends with an engineer at motorola and he has showed me the canary first hand. It flips just like the Razr, but the finish on it is not the same as on the Razr. It's a sort of sleek hard plastic, but looks like a shiny glass. My friend said they have been testing durability recently and it has proven to be quite durable in most drops, except when open and landing on its side, or top. It's supposed to be release Q3 of this year.

The length

also those of you who are complaining about the extra length, it's less than 1 cm longer then the razr, so no worries. There is also a 1 gb flash card that will be available to stick in the flash drive slot in the phone. Boy thats a lot of music for a phone.
