playdead, the 'MS pico' you mention are M2's I assume?
Riko sounds like a phone for NTT DoCoMo...iMode isn't really used in Europe afaik, and 'stick phone' is the term for the SO902i, so probably an upgrade for that phone...

I Mode is still used in Europe, I used it for a couple of years...

DUNGA, but is it used enough to warrant a phone with that capability? I just thought that the explicit mention of iMode and the term 'stick phone' may be hints that 'Riko' is a phone for the Japanese market.

Well Sony Ericsson never launched an I Mode phone in Europe, so I really have no clue if they will decide to do that... I Mode is most popular in France as far as I know, anything is possible... Yet it can be just for the Japanese market, but I doubt that in my opinion...

Germany had (has?) it too, but afaik there hasn't been a new iMode capable handset in ages there, so I assumed that this service just slowly died in Europe...

O2 has just launched i-Mode in the UK.. well in the last couple of months anyway, and they're putting quite a lot of emphasis on it in their recent ad campaigns, highlighting that you can go on eBay etc.

So don't be too surprised.

OK, then...the German operator E-Plus launched it something like 3 years ago, when there was a real difference between WAP and iMode...but it has been successful there.

Can't see a single reason for using iMode nowadays, but why not

kavorka,

So this means, that no candybar "big bro" for w810i yet? It's a pitty. I've been waiting for that one since the CeBit.

I've been waiting since CeBit as well. Assuming that list is correct, we wont see a worthy upgrade to the w800 in time for w800 August contract renewals and none of the other SE phones appeal. They will probably announce it just before release so it doesnt affect w810 sales.

Is Riko definately not a Walkman?

Why are there so many clamshells? A couple of years ago, it would have been a good time, but now are clamshells still as popular unless they are very thin? Doesnt seem so.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 9300i was the last S80 phone and the next communicator is S60. But maybe someone has definitive info on this.

does that include the rumoured N83 (the double-slider that appeared all over the Internet just a week after the N93 was announced)?

Yeah it was S90 on the 7710 and I think it's pretty deffo that there won't be anymore S90 phones and S60 with touchscreen insted. But now to watch Brazil's opening game in the WC

Correct - s80 is dead

N999, Yes I think so.

zeem35, s40 devices - so not a 7610 replacment, that was the n73

i cant wait for the REAL 8800 successor... the 8800 is expensive for not much.. the 8910i being expensive made some sense with the opening mechanism, titanium body, really impressive design... the 8800 is stainless steel and is just a re-designed slider... i hope the next one has something really special...

You make a good point that 8910i was not just a phone manufactured from exotic materials with a unique sliding design... It was a Technological force which still competes with phones today... 8800 is just a 6230i without expandable memory...
