Sigh, when will Nokia release a decent s40 candybar handset? Is there not enough sliders already?

the recent 7xxx series lost the meaning of experimental.
are they experimenting on a super cheap plastic? beside being looking bland.

It was never meant to be experimental _only_ although I do miss those crazy cigar shaped phones (but the thing is that I never bought one and very few people did - therefore, its no surprise they have been dropped by Nokia). "Fashion" was equally if not more important. Yeah, I find the Supernova line up a bit boring, but I gather shiny things are in now.. at least they are not gold coloured.. lol

You're such a maverick!

And I am kind of surprised the Supernova phones seem so...average. I'd have though with a sub-brand like that they'd have a little more appeal, but I guess they're strictly fashion pieces.

And I'm getting more and more psyched about the touch Nseries.

Though I may just have to get the 5800 too. Dunno. It's definitely cheap enough.

Viipottaja i hope they bring back their crazy design again. this is what make it exciting imo. i wouldn't mind seeing an art deco style again or at least made the supernova super classy color... not that pina-ta ariba ariba color.

Just a question. After the 5800 passes through the FCC - how long does it take before its released?

I don't think there's any set schedule, is there? Once it passes, they can release it whenever they want to--a day later, or a month. All that matters is that it is approved before it's released (in the US, anyway).

FCC makes sure the radios work OK, but it doesn't care if the software is not stable. So basically, it takes as long as it takes Nokia to shake out any major bugs.

I agree. Hope they'll bring the good old day back soon. The Art Deco and L'amour line was awesome. Supernova line is like for 12yrs kid

From Boygeniusreport G1 review:

"[G1 is] not a BlackBerry, it’s not a Sidekick. You could think of it as the adult Sidekick though, and that, my friends, is what people have been waiting for, for a very long time."

Adult Sidekick = E75, no?

No no no, sorry, I was just thinking that when reading the G1 review. I.e. that the E75 could appeal to people who like the Sidekick but would prefer something more "adult oriented"

There are rumors, that the E90 sucessor will be based on 5th Edition and will have a touchscreen. It should also have the form of a HTC Touch HD / TyTN. But these aren't rumors from wellknown insiders...

Its 7100, isn't it? Not 7110. Not that a name matters anyway. Look at Dick Cheney for example. Penis of a name, and such a warm, wonderful guy inside!

I suspect even Nokia did not expect the kind of smash hit N95 was, in particular given that they virtually at the same time putting out the N85 (although, 99.9% of "regular people" probably have not heard of it yet).
n95 its still selling..

and managed to get the milestone the iphone its trying quicker.

Some E63 news I've just read on a German forum:
  • 3.5mm headset jack on top, where the power button used to be on the E71 ( )
  • thicker than the E71
  • no front cam
  • mostly plastic body
  • 2MPx camera

Cheap, slightly more music-oriented E71 variant it seems...

Is this the first E series with a 3.5mm jack then? Also, what's the reliability of the source?

If the E-series start getting 3.5mm jacks now too, that's great news!

I would love to see a E51 with 3.5mm jack and capability to run N-Gage.

If this is E63, and E75 is the side-slide qwerty, then what is special about E72? Thought it would be a cheaper E71, but it seems that E63 already takes this spot...

Both E72 and E63 are supposed to be cheaper than E71. This was written a few pages ago.

As far as I can try to guess, it seems like E63 could be (hopefully) VERY cheap (sort of like some of the lowly Blackberries or Treos), and E72 more just a design chance to appeal to a wider audience (E71 is fairly stern/masculine looking and as such may not appeal to all). If that's the case, E72 would be a bit like the N72 was to the N70.

chlettn, viipottaja: seems possible and propable

The one in the leaked as (names E72) turned out to be E63, right..? So, do we have any information regarding design changes in E71 vs E72 or the design of E72 in general?

Ok, but what about a successor to the E51?? Will there be any? Probably, and maybe the specs from E66/E71 packed into slightly redesigned body would be perfect, but now I can;t wait for E75
So, E63 - cheaper E71, E72 - more womanized E71 or what?
Cheers.

I thought the one that was in the leaked video was the E72 and the device profile was for the E63 (i.e. AFAIK, we haven't seen any pics of the E63). Confusing.. I don't know.. lol

I suspect Nokia is in no hurry to re-fresh E51 (frankly, I don't see much need either, other than the GPS I guess) - my guess they will milk it to the end - its selling well and the margin per device is probably is still very good, despite slightly dropping prices.

The Space is smaller, and it got 2 more keys.

Seems a bit shorter than the E71...the space below the keyboard is smaller.

Not to keen on the color personally, but I guess we'll see more sober colors as well.

There was a trustfull source here that right after the video-leak pointed out that the model in the video was E63, not E72 as the video stated.

Sounds like you have had it in your hands. Or just guessing? If the former, do spill some beans on the details: in hand feel, specs, your guess on price point etc.

Course I had it in my hand.

The overall plastic does obvioulsy makes the E63 feel cheaper than E71. I like the fact it hasn't got these baggy slots for microSD and microUSB. The thinness of E71 is very good, E63 is just average.
I've written the obvious Specs on the other forum and chlettn posted them already. Price point will be about 260-280Ђ before taxes.

Check out new pics.
