... speaking iPhone clones. Here's another one.
........................... ![]() Meizu M8 iPhone Clone Hitting China, India In December Meizu's iPhone copycatting M8 cellphone is to be vaporware no longer thanks to GeekITstores, who will be launching it in China then India from December onwards. The 8GB model is apparently due to cost somewhere between $380 and $470, and will be launched with "complete fanfare"...presumably because it's the "iPhone killer," or so says the press release. In fact, GeekITStores really seem to love the device, saying it was looking for a "better, cheaper alternative" to the iPhone for Indian customers. http://gizmodo.com/5056133/meizu-m8-...ia-in-december http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/29/m...this-december/ http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives..._december.html http://www.cellphones.ca/news/post004177/ cheers!

HTC WiMAX phone
I’ve seen a cool thing presented at the WiMax World Conference in Chicago last week! A device functioning both in GSM and WiMax networks!!!! I’ve googled it then a bit and found out it was promoted under the Russian brand Yota – first Russian mobile WiMax network. I’ve also found the parameters – it’s a keyboardless candy bar boasting a large 3.8” 480x800 pixel WVGA touch screen.

Blackberry Storm 2!
BlackBerry 5-megapixel phone, Storm 2 in the works
The BlackBerry Storm hasn’t even made it to the public yet and here’s some news that might make you want to hold on to your hard-earned money before spending it on RIM’s new touchscreen phone. According to BGR, they’ve gathered some inside information from two independent sources revealing that RIM’s got a new baby in the works that features a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera, 1GB RAM and a “near HD quality” display. Form factor wise, they’re suggesting that it coulld look like the love-child of the Storm and Bold which could mean a touchscreen phone with QWERTY keypad included. Likewise, it was also divulged that a follow-up to the Storm is already in production so you might want to skip out on the 1st gen Storm since the 2nd gen will most likely be better than the 1st one. http://www.cellphones.ca/news/post004250/ http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/...3-coming-soon/ cheers!

Bang & Olufsen ditch mobile phones as credit crunch bites
October 30, 2008, 1:30 pm by Chris Haslam ![]() Even in the land of the £10,000 TV pennies are being pinched, as Danish audiophiles Bang & Olufsen announce they are to stop making handsets and gadgets. Dad’s favourite hi-fi company have announced they will be pulling the plug on manufacturing everything outside their core TV and sound system business, so it’s Haj Haj to DVD players, recorders and mobile phones in an attempt to claw back some profit. Proof that those bankers and hedge fund managers really are starting to feel the strain. Bless. In a classic, no sh*t Sherlock statement, in the FT Gartner telecoms analyst Carolina Milanesi said: “What Bang & Olufsen was trying to do with their devices was not fitting the current environment … people are looking to spend less, not more, on phones.” Bang & Olufsen’s chief executive Karl Kristian Hvidt Nielsen blames the slump in the property market for steady falling sales across the board. http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2008/10...-crunch-bites/ ![]()

Softbank introduces Sharp Aquos Fulltouch slider with quasi-XGA resolution
![]() Just when we thought the Touch HD really packed the pixels in, Softbank and Sharp have announced the Aquos Fulltouch 931SH slider, which sports a wild 1024 x 480 3.8-inch touchscreen. That's almost the same res as most netbooks, for comparison -- we're not sure what all that pixel density is good for at this size, but we know we want it. Apart from the screen it's also a pretty solid 3G Softbank featurephone: browser, Bluetooth with A2DP, 5.2 megapixel camera with image stabilizer, accelerometer, 1seg TV tuner, and a media player with microSD expansion. Sure, sure -- but look at that screen, people. That's the stuff dreams are made of. Anyone up for a trip to Japan? This phone define the word HD in the mobile phone industry ![]() |

Remember that Sharp will hopefully base their new world wide phones on their Softbank models. That's what they did with with the 902 & 903, but then that was under Vodafone.

Nintendo to make a DSPhone?
Nintendo lining up DSphone?
Ben Parfitt Today, 6:50pm ![]() DSphone, DSiMovie, DSMobile, DSMap, DSiChannel, DSNavi and DSiMail among names trademarked by firm. Ahead of the release of Nintendo’s rejuvenated DSi in Europe and North America some time next year, Nintendo has patented a number of DS-related titles that could offer a sneak peek at the plans the firm has for its machine. Siliconera has the complete list of patents that were filed between September 30th and Ocotber 1st this year. The eclectic list points to all sorts of possible software, or even hardware, releases for the machine over the coming years, with hints towards, sat-nav software, movie downloads, mobile telephony, email, TV and e-books clear to see. http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/31956...ing-up-DSphone cheers!

the 2nd android phone
Second Android Handset Unveiled
Author Gordon Kelly Published 19th Nov 2008 While the T-Mobile G1 has provoked huge discussion (not least in my Android verses Mobile OS X feature) isn't it about time we had another handset to try Google's funky new software on? Well, now we do but sadly it's not really what the doctor (nurse / patients / friends of patients / pets) ordered. The 'Sciphone Dream G2' - a deliberate Google keywords killer if ever there was one - was unveiled today and... well, it's no more exciting than the HTC built anytime-in-the-last-18-months G1. In fact breaking it down there are a few rather unusual specs in there and also some downright bizarre ones. ![]() The good stuff: a touchscreen 2.8in QVGA display with 262k colours, WiFi, FM tuner, a reduced form factor compared to the G1 (56 x 107.2 x 11.8mm, 110g) and a chunky 1500mhA battery giving up to a claimed 450 mins talk time and 300 hours standby. The bad: no 3G (EDGE only territory I'm afraid), no GPS and just 50MB of internal memory (though microSD support up to 16GB). The bizarre: a 4MP camera (a new rating on us) and no physical keypad of any sort. http://www.trustedreviews.com/networ...et-Unveiled/p1 cheers!

new player in town...
Asus working on 10 New Phones to rival HTC in 2009
If you’re a devoted Asus mobile phone fan, you’ll be happy to know that aside from the P565, Glaxy7, and the P552w, there’s more in store for you guys in 2009. To show their determination in competing with the likes of HTC in the mobile phone industry, an undisclosed source has revealed that the company will be releasing no less than ten models next year most of which will be sporting 3G connectivity as well as the popular touchscreen interface. As for specific details about what these phones will come with, we haven’t got the slightest clue, but it won’t be surprising if these new phones will come with the Android OS under the hood. We’ll probably hear more from them when 2009 is finally upon us, but for now, we’ll give them props for their resolve in making a name for themselves in the highly competitive mobile phone industry. http://www.cellphones.ca/news/post004602/ http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/1...-handsets-for/ cheers!

Microsoft Pink
Microsoft Pink Rumors Abound
Nov 26, 08 10:06 AM PDT ![]() Word on the street has it that Microsoft's newest hardware known as "Pink" will merge both its Zune as well as technology from their acquisition of Danger Inc., so pundits are coming out with their own views on the whole situation. These views take into account the irony of Danger's co-founder, Andy Rubin, being one of the main brains behind the Android mobile operating system, while releasing the G1 via T-Mobile, whose corporate color is pink as well. Whispers abound that the Microsoft Pink will make a splash at CES 2009, although a February release is also on the cards. Hopefully Microsoft's Pink will put up more of a fight against the iPhone compared to the Zune's pitiful sales performance against the iPod. from: http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives...rs_abound.html http://www.mobilewhack.com/rumored-m...e-at-ces-2009/ http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives..._apx_chip.html cheers!

speaking of being original... here's a different approach to a cell phone, a phone with 2 alternative OS's. ![]() ................................ QiGi i6 provides Windows Mobile, Android OS options Sat, Nov 29, 2008 Before you dismiss this as another cheap imitation of a popular mobile phone, you might be interested to know that the QiGi i6 is available with either Windows Mobile or Android under the hood. ![]() While OS options are mostly limited to computers, China’s QiGi is apparently now offering the same option for their i6 mobile phone. True, the HTC Touch-like exterior is a bit of a turn-off, but the specs are nonetheless pretty decent. The QiGi i6 comes with a 2.8-inch touchscreen, 624MHz processor, 2-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. No 3G, but I guess the rest of its features will be more than enough for the average mobile phone user. The thought of having OS options is indeed tempting, but I highly doubt that this particular model will be headed towards the North American region anytime soon. However, I am hopeful that this will get the ball rolling in providing consumers with the ability to choose the mobile operating system which best suits their mobile phones. It might be a far fetched idea, but if it’s possible in China, why not elsewhere? http://www.cellphones.ca/news/post004611/ http://www.pmptoday.com/2008/11/29/q...id-os-options/ http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/board/3...or-wm-6-1.html cheers!

a new 32GB iPhone?
Macworld San Francisco 2009 Registration, New Macs, 32GB iPhones?
Tuesday December 02, 2008 04:25 AM EST; Category: iPhone Written by Arnold Kim Macworld announced on Monday that the "early bird" registration for Macworld San Francisco 2009 will be extended until December 8th. The early registration provides a discount on the price of admission. Basic expo floor passes can be had for $25, while the possibility of Keynote access is restricted to those with tickets of $250 or more. Macworld Expo takes place from January 5th to 9th, 2009 and represents the likely venue for Apple's next product announcements. A number of products are expected to be unveiled at or around Macworld. Long running rumors have suggested that Apple's iMac and Mac mini are due for imminent updates. Mac Pro suitable Nehalem processors are due in the first quarter and we've long heard that the remainder of the Cinema Displays will be updated at MWSF. Meanwhile, an unconfirmed tip at MacBlogz even claims that Apple might introduce a 32GB iPhone at Macworld 2009. While these "storage bump" predictions are easy to make, the technology may be poised to become available at the right timeframe. The reason the largest iPhone (16GB) currently has 1/2 the memory of the largest iPod touch (32GB) is that the iPhone can only house a single NAND Flash chip while the iPod touch can accommodate two. The additional space in the iPhone is taken up by its communication hardware. In August, Toshiba announced that they would begin mass production of higher density 32GB chips in the 4th quarter of 2008. These chips could presumably be used in future iPhone and iPod touch models. Another intriguing announcement came from Intel who has developed Flash chips that could increase this maximum to 64GB by early 2009. from: http://www.macrumors.com/2008/12/01/...-32gb-iphones/ cheers!

It seems that Apple's on the defensive now? When the 5800 was announced with half the iPhone's price, some rumors came out that the iPhone might be sold at 99usd. Now that the N97 is announced - there's rumors again that a 32GB iPhone is being made.
![]() Why cant they just make an iPhone with full capabilities? (MMS, a 5mp camera, flash, cut-n-paste, full bluetooth). Instead of this small piece-by-piece upgrades? |

Apple to bring out a 99$ iPhone?
Apple: Rumor They Will Sell $99 4GB iPhone Via Wal-Mart
Posted by Eric Savitz Now here’s an interesting rumor. The blog Boy Genius Report says it has received a tip that Apple will sell a 4 GB iPhone in Wal-Mart for $99 with a 2-year service agreement. Apple doesn’t currently sell a 4GB iPhone; the 8 GB model is $199 with a 2-year service plan, while the 16 GB model sells for $299. The same blog had previously reported that Apple will start selling phones in Wal-Mart later this month; but the new details make the concept all the more fascinating. (Although not yet confirmed by either side, I should add.) The idea raises all sorts of interesting questions: would ever-brand-conscious Apple actually sell a low-end phone specifically to be sold at Wal-Mart and not its own stores or other retailers? Would a $99 phone with 4GB of memory eat in to sales of higher priced models with more memory? And would it get a special name, like the iPhone Recession Edition? Apple today is down $3.25, or 3.4%, to $92.65. http://blogs.barrons.com/techtraderd...-via-wal-mart/ http://news.cnet.com/8301-13526_3-10...=2547-1_3-0-20 http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/...ne-at-walmart/ cheers!
