    Unhappy MP3 -v- AAC

    My N6280 supports both mp3 and aac audio format. Please tell me what's the difference between them and which is better? tks

    This is strange, I remember replying... the difference are tecnological, one file (aac) is smaller than the other, because it uses a different compression.Most people can't tell the difference, so I suggest you put both types on your phone and see if you can tell the difference, if you can then choose the better of the two, if you cant choose the aac, because you will fit more on the memory.

    CD Quality Audio are

    128kbps Mp3
    96kbps AAC (3/4 size of mp3 but still CD quality Audio)
    64kbps eAAC+ (1/2 size of mp3 but still CD quality Audio)

    So which one you prefer?

    Technical explanations will take too long, and will require listening test examples, but the general consensus from the Hydrogen Audio community has been that AAC sound good at bitrates 160Kbps and lower, while Lame encoded Mp3 files at 192Kbps and higher sound far more superior to AACs.

    However if you have crappy headphones, it won't matter, bottom line if your ears aren't sharp enough to pick up the differences, again it won't matter.

    However considering the massive hardware support for Mp3s and storage being so cheap, better judgement suggests Mp3s encoded at atleast 192Kbps for portable and 320Kbps for archival or playback on quality systems.
