PC Studio Checklist:
There are at least five different versions of PC Studio. Make sure you have the correct version for your phone model. You can download it from samsungmobile.com or find your phone in the list above and use the link to download the correct version.
Make sure your USB or Serial cable is compatible with your phone model. You can always check for the correct data cable by looking at the model number on samsungmobile.com in your phone's accessories section.
For PC Studio 1 and PC Studio II 1, no drivers are necessary as the original data cables of the phones using versions 1 and II-1 are serial cables which don't require any drivers. For all other PC Studio versions, you will need to install the USB driver that comes with the software if you are using a USB cable as your connection.
If you are using a Bluetooth dongle or IrDa port as your connection, the necessary driver(s) should be provided with their data kit and should be correctly installed and set up prior to the installation of PC Studio.
Due to known errors on the Global Download Center for the recommended PC Studio software, be sure to look at the actual file name on the details page for the offered download to get the actual version being offered. Then, using the information in Part 1 of this guide, determine your phone's development platform. Finally, using the information at the beginning of Part 1, check that the offered download is compatible with your phone's development platform. If it isn't, make a list of phones whose development platform is the same as your phone's and check those phones' download pages on the Global Download Center, looking for the latest version of a compatible offering.
Hints & Tips:
Always install the USB driver for USB data cable (or corresponding drivers for Bluetooth or IrDa connections) before PIMS / PIM & File Manager.
To install the USB driver for PC Studio versions 2, II-2 and III, connect your phone to the cable and plug the cable to an available USB port on your computer (preferably a port which isn't being used by other devices and has no other drivers installed on it). You should get 'Found New Hardware' message from windows when the cable is plugged in and click on it to open the Found New Hardware Wizard. In Hardware Wizard, select 'Install from a list or specified location' and follow the steps to find and select PC Studio's USB driver stored on your pc or cd. Ignore any messages that say the software has not passed the Windows Logo test and continue with the installation. For PC Studio 3, install the USB driver first, then connect the phone and cable to the pc and windows should detect and install the drivers to that port automatically.
After installing the USB Driver (or corresponding drivers for Bluetooth or IrDa connections), install PIMS / PIM & File Manager. When done, open PIMS / PIM & File Manager and complete the settings in Setup (under 'File') for port and speed by selecting the correct com port for your USB/BT/IrDa connection and if necessary, the correct speed. For PC Studio 3, complete the setting by going to Connection in 'File'.
For transferring multimedia files to/from the PC and phone, use the File Manager icon on the top bar (to the right of the Print icon, also under 'Tool'). DO NOT use the 'melody to phone' and 'image to phone' icons.
Take care to select file formats and file sizes supported by the phone when uploading files to the phone from the PC.
Remember to select the correct destination folder in the phone when uploading files to the phone from the PC (e.g. mp3/aac files-> music folder, jpeg/gif files-> downloaded images folder, 3gp/mpeg4 files-> downloaded videos folder...)

It is NOT officially possible to install java MIDlets on samsung handsets (excluding smartphones) via bluetooth, IrDa, USB cable or serial cable. MIDlets can only be downloaded by Over-The-Air (OTA) via a download server.
A hacking method has been devised for phones with the Dragonfly platform (see post #1 for platform list). All java serial codes discussed in the forum apply to phones with the Dragonfly platform only.
There is currently no method for installing MIDlets on other platforms other than by OTA/GPRS via a download server.
