Changing the IMEI on the phone is the only way. I wouldnt recommend that because its illegal and hard to do.
It's nearly impossible to do. The IMEI is written on a write-once chip in your phone...
oh right thanks! becuase they have cheap blocked phones on Ebay, and it thought there mustbe some way to unblock them, but if its that hard and illegal!!!
Just wondering!![]()
Yeah I wouldn't bother.
Don´t support thieves! If you get a barred phone, return it to seller *and report him to authoroties, optional*Originally Posted by liamss

Always be suspicious when seller states Phone only, charger, box and receipt "dahh.. lost when moving to new address"
liamss, I don't think it's worth 5 years in jail
They usually go quite high anyway on ebay.co.uk because foreigners who use UK ebay can use the phones in their country.
Hello, could you explain me this?
Because i don?t know much about but i think that the IMEI but i think it is a world wide code.
So if a telephone is stolen in the uk and blocked even though it can be used in any network, when it is used in spain it will get blocked.
Im not really sure, but it is what i think would happend.
are you sure what u said is correct?

This is currently true to a degree...Originally Posted by alvin66

HOWEVER
there are agreements going in place with all the major worldwide networks that will share their common IMEI blacklists - so phone blocked in country 1 - will also be blocked in country 2 etc etc
if i find the article again i will post it up
Can't really agree it's illegal to unblock the phone. Yes, I'm sure there's plenty of stolen phones on ebay, but for example my friend gave me his old phone as his provider gave him free upgrade. As his phone worked only on Orange and I use Vodafone, I'll unblock it and don't feel like a thief.
thats unlocking - ie unlocking it so that it can be used by another network. thats perfectly legal. this thread is about unblocking - ie when a phone is blocked(ie blacklisted), it (usually) means that the rightful owner has reported it stolen or lost. unblocking a phone involves changing the IMEI number, and thats highly illegal.
