LCD's can display properly(with-out blurring) fast moving objects? OR 3D games?
Me heared tht for an avid gamer like me who play mostly games all the time must use the conventional monitors.
Also,is tht true tht as we go on using LCD screen ,there forms dead pixels on the screen?
should i buy LCD screen ? How to prevent pixel deads?
Which ur preferred brand?
Me lukin 2Go 4 samsung.
What u all guyz say...?

Samsung has good lcd screens, I can gaurantee that. "Syncmaster"
The conventional monitors still have better quality than LCD's. We buy LCD because it is smaller and thinner.
But the quality of LCD's are now catching up conventional monitors. The reason that lcd screens have after image is because of their time taken to transit a single pixel to another. LCD grids emit light by electricity, by changing their "states". In order to preven dead pixels, what you would like to do is to check the screens. Normally, samsung monitors do not have these dead pixels.
Checking dead pixels.
1. Turn off monitor and look at the grids. (This is somewhat hard.)
2.Turn on mininitor and open an image file with only black color. And see if their are white grids.
3. Lastly, gently touch the screen of the lcd, and see if there are no wave patterns. (It should oscillate. If it doesn't it has potential to become a bad pixel)
To prevent this, you have to take good care of the lcd. Don't put the monitor into direct sun beam, keep in proper temperature, turn off the lcd monitor after you use computer, don't plug off the monitor. (turn off)
I guess, that's most of it.
Samsung wil;l give you one of the best monitors on market, as they are well-known for.

personally i prefer the lg ips panels colour wise. the joint venture by sony and samsung for future panels looks interesting.

I havent got tht ! Can xplain further?
Also,is it necessary to buy a multi-function LCD Only to play games ?
I am saying this coz people say they have a better referesh Rate etc etc... than an normal LCD.

gaurav311 yeah it does. LG (teamed up with Royal Phillipse electronics) do produce as good lcd's as samsung sdi.
I do think many customers perfer LG-phillipse product to samsung sdi's.
These two are the rival in panel display (No.1 and 2 in the world)
They switch their position often.

i don't think it is very necessary to buy a really fancy just for 3D games.
But refresh rate might matter a bit.
I don't know how fast the game is, but i really do think it is not worth do buy a mad expansive monitor from either samsung and lg to get the best refresh rate.
My monitor is a notebook lcd of Sony Vaio, which the panel is from samsung sdi.
The refresh rate is only 60Hz, and I don't have much problem playing 3D games such as Quake 3 or Medal of Honor.
But since, I don't play much 3D games, I cannot tell it
But make sure to get a good 3D accelerator.
I am using ATI mobility radeon.
But I think GeForce series are better than ATI in 3D games.
But if you want an overal good 3D accelerator, why not try ATI?

you seem to have great knowledge about these things sunnystory! any ideas about coming tft panels? I was considering either the SM 213T or the Dell 2001FP for PC display, but can't help but think there's even better stuff around the corner..

No not really. McKiney is, i think, much exports in these stuff. I really do learn alot from his postings.
Anywayz, I don't know for export model of samsung that much. This is because the model number is different for domestic, even though it is the exactly same model.
BTW, amazingly, Dell is one of the first prime customer of Samsung sdi. In other words, there is an exactly identical lcd panel used for samsung electronics.

SUNNY-
I still dunno wat xactly U meant by this ?
Gently touch the screen of the lcd, and see if there are no wave patterns. (It should oscillate. If it doesn't it has potential to become a bad pixel) ?
Me recently found an samsung LCD with Response Time 12ms,now U think tht will B gud ?
Regarding mad expensive- Money is not a concerne !

Samsung's 'X' ranges of LCD are supposed to be good.. as mentioned by the person above about the response time of 12ms, that is achieved by the 152X, 172X.
I'll be looking at one year end.. heh.. hopefully they'll improve it by then..

an_arien_4u it is good enough for any games.
Considering how to check bad pixels, you don;t need to think about it for samsung.
Samsung usually have zero bad pixel when it comes.
But if you still want to check, open a picture which is black color which fits the screen
If you find bad pixel it will be a white dot there
then open a white picture which fills up the screen
if there is bad spot, there should be a black dot too.
And then, gently touch the screen. If it doesn't wiggles, then it means that the lcd has potential to have bad pixels. But this step can be ignored because nowadays companies make the lcd screens good so that it doesn't wiggle at all. (Sometimes the lcd is covered with glasses)

Do contrast and Luminosity matters in LCD Screens for PC....for playing games?
Here,250 cd/m2= what is m2 ?
gaurav311
27-04-2004, 05:43
brightness/luminosity = 250cdm, etc, strength of backlight
contrast = 400:1, 800:1 etc, how black the blacks are.
response rate = 16ms, 25ms, etc, less = faster = less blur in games
an_arien_4u
cd/(m^2) = candela per metre squared
The candela (cd) is a unit of luminous intensity
The metre squared is basically length x width = area
m x m = m^2
cd/(m^2) is therefore the luminous intensity per square metre
Have a quick read at this link for some background information:

I would buy the new Benq but I dont reember it's model name...it's very good !
12ms response time and I read a review about it and it was great! It is very good at games!
And the Refresh Rate of the LCD monitors doesn't matter!

172x isn't that good, its fast but i prefer the other ones for image, like 173p.
