clarification on clams
apparently the early clam proto will now be released, along with another one recently designed. this is due to pressure from networking operators. so dont be surprised to see 2 new clamshells incorporated into the big launch later in the year.
update: post was initially about early 3g prototypes from long time ago. it now appears there are about 3-4 more clamshells, including a new budget range model, to be released later this year, due to market pressures. nokia will still retain many candybar designs and fashion solutions though. expect lots of variation from them.

Then that is good news.
When shall them be published? this summer?
can't wait to see...
:D
BTW: I am making a difficult decision between whether to buy N6230 now or to wait the new series 50 ones(WCDMA/GSM)

wait for new ones is my advice. there are a few more of gsm-edge ones like 6230 to come yet, one of them is unbelievably small for features (but they took out bluetooth). otherwise there's the 3g ones too. but all better than 6230, which is overpriced at the moment.

Then I'll take your advice...
THX a lot!
Keep waiting for N8300/6300 !
Coz I'm from China mainland, where EDGE will not be adopted while WCDMA will be on the market...

@ gaurav: Thx for the information...
Sounds like a competitor to SonyEricsson Z1010?!
PS: What about the successor of 8910i? When will it be presented?
@ rogger: Thx ;) !
I suppose you want to know about a successor? ;)

@ Rogger: Yes, you're right.
Ok, the question was: Do you know gaurav, when Nokia will present the successor of 8910i? :)

You can buy z1010 in Sweden and these Nokias are in early proto staduim. Huge difference, I assure you :)

nokias must be past proto stage now, in testing and marketing evaluation stages, they are basically done. there will be various forms of successor to 8910i, i can think of at least 2 models (1 gsm edge/ wcdma clam slider) that will appeal to such people, along with lots of others with either a) technology borrowed from 6230/7200 (but smaller or youth version, 1 other gsm clam in testing) or b) 3g model, half of which are clam now it seems (the new UI fits them better), in my experience these clams are nicer than samsungs in design and material, but definately not as small (medium size). Some gsm ones are very small however, like 1300. nokia still isnt fond of current clam design, expect their clams to be slightly different in mechanism to samsungs with better feel.

also on some new models you will so a totally new navigation system, not the usual seperate 4-button/arrow set, but something more abstract than that (and very good and fast). most still are old system though.

can you explane this? (navigation wheel)
is it like the older 7110 or something like a Jog like SE uses (CMD Z7) or a trackball?

sorry i cannot reveal exact, but there's def a wheels, afaik they are not touch sensitive and towards centre of phones, and help incredibly for navigation. think of mouse wheel, not exact same, but you will get the idea.
I know you mentioned phones that would come out have a similar navigation "wheel" like the iPod and SO505. Which ones where they Gaurav?

yeah initially, higher end youth phone. i suspect they may open up 4xxx range with it. if not most likely a 3 or 5 series. funky design. the other 8 and 6 series more serious old school design, along with new clams of course (which are nothing like 7200).
