An actual American football game lasts for 60 minutes of play. It is extremly different then anything else played including rugby or Aussie rules football. I have a friend here in Moscow thats from Australia that loves watching American football because its so different and so complex. American football probably has the most complex rule and play structure out of any pro sports played in the world, except maybe cricket, I dont know a thing about that sport at all.

I understand your arguments about American football, but alot of people from other countries are starting to like it. I do agree that the name is kinda odd, but they cant change it now. Just to give you some odd facts, the worlds largest crowd at a single sporting event is in Mexico City for a football(soccer) match, and the second largest is at an American football game between 2 college teams. I think this is getting a little out of hand, and I agree on some points and disagree on others. I enjoy both versions of football and think both have there excitement that makes the game fun.
