saliquincer The use of duo (or pro) is different from nand flash memory. nand flash memories are the internal memories of many high-premium gadgets including phones and digital camera. They are upto 8Gigabytes. the major companies are samsung, toshiba and intel. Although nand flash memory sells less than Nor flash memory, it is considered as the world's next generation memory type of all. Although nand sells only 40%of all types of flash memory, the price of it is very much more expansive than nor, and the memory capacity is the largest among flash memory. MS duo has less capacity with less functionality with different gadgets. NAND flash memories are not used for external because it is so expansive to buy each one. it is as small(actually smaller) and light as ms duo, but it has alot more capacity /w superior speed. lastly samsung 8gigabyte nand flash memory is so expansive that it has never been used for cell phones. it is mostly used for slr cameras starting at 10,000$. And intel, the largest semiconductor company in the world, tried to maintain the nand flash memory two years ago. and the newbie in nand flash memory, samsung and toshiba, both beat up them. right now 70% of the nand flash memory is sold by samsung, and nand flash memory market (not in size, but profit-size) is the largest among any memory chips. any one should admit that samsung is the best memory chip maker in the world, along with hynix.
using 70-nm manufacturing process technology on 300-mm diameter wafers

btw, the most advanced cell phone memory in the world currently is yet 256megabytes. it record 3 hours of 1.3Mpixel quality into a phone. now.... imagine only 1Gigabyte in a phone, or further 8Gigabyte in a phone... or think about in mp3 player in cell phones. the biggest problem is the memory. in 8Gigabytes, i bet the users will not use mp3 anymore. they will rather use ogg files which is larger size and nearest to cd quality. 8Gigabytes is pretty large for a mp3 player, considering it is not a hard drive. and it is perfect for mobile gadgets because flash memory has no motors. it is the electron in the memory chip that functions as motors :D
it is simply the best. :D:D

Very true that they are not comparable since the other one is external while the other one is internal flash memory. But I agree with Saliquincer that MS Pro is the best in quality and maybe thats the reason its kinda over price compared to others. But as far as I know, its the best and also, if sony or sandisk makes the most of it, they can make up to 32 Gigabytes of the MS Duo Pro.

I think u people are confused of memory stick duo. NAND flash memory includes Compact Flash(CF)??Smart Media(SM)??MultiMediaCard(MMC)??Secure Digital(SD)??Memory Stick(MS).
Sony memory stick is solely made using samsung's NAND flash memory.
