Problem choosing network/data priorities with Touch Diamond

Hello, since recently I'm the happy owner of a Touch Diamond. I have a big problem though. The phone always wants to go online and it always logs in with my 3G/EDGE data connection.

All I want is that it asks me before going online on EDGE or 3G (like my old Nokia), right now it goes online even while being idle - I mean ... that's 0.25cents/hour for me (no cheap dataplans in belgium).

I don't need data all the time, it's enough that I can check some stuff a few times a day when wifi is available.

It's frustrating that when wifi is OFF, I just _CANT_ disable the mobile 'data connection' in connection manager, it just wants a data connection, ALL the time. I don't want that.

Try this free utility from Modaco:

Used to work perfectly on my old HTC TyTn. It worked on WM6 so it should be fine for your Diamond.

I found a solution but it was clumsy because I had to dig deep into menu's to enable/disable the data connection, but this program is really easy and works, thank you!

I'm very happy with my touch diamond and I like Windows Mobile because there's so many stuff to install and enhance it just like with Symbian S60 (my previous phone). I feel right at home!

I had the same problem that you encountered as well, and I just went to HTC's site for an answer, and I hope this is it. Try this yourself.

I wouldn't dare to look at my phone bill either, and I have had this phone since it came out in mid-june, and it has been doing the same thing till I have changed the setting just now. I am keeping my finger cross that this will work..... In Canada, if you don't have a plan, it cost you a fortune to use their wireless internet as well...
