So another European cup final comes to an end. It wasnt the bore we all thought it would be but it also wasnt half the final Istanbul was (sorry i had to get that one in) but now in 3 weeks time we have this to look forward to.
With England having not qualified you would think that no English person would be interested in this but I am going to enjoy every bit of this tournament. Infact my Spain shirt with Torres is on its way to me now!
So anyway lets talk about the tournament. Im going for either Spain or France to win it.

Portugual will win Euro 2008, remember I said this. I have no doubt in my mind.
Spain forever fail to shine on the big stage however I think this year will be different. The whole of Spain has been shocked by how well Torres has done in England. I think the fact that he has had a year playing in what i see to be the best league in Europe will give him an extra edge over the rest. They also have some other explosive players - Bojan in particular.
If they dont do it however I hope France do it. Back in 98 after Brazil lost in the final I hated France with a vengence but for some reason I have suddenly developed an affinity to them. There is no more ZiZou but there is now 'the King' - Franck Ribery. I really think with him they can get to the semis at least.

True Bav, it's sad for us that we are not there, taking into account that 9 English players were in the champions league final, however at least we can watch it in relaxed fashion and not have to endure our inevitable defeat on penalties at some point during the tournament.

Seriously, Holland? I'd be happy to see them go to the next round to be honest. There are alot of potential winners: Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain. Some outsider are imo Holland, Sweden, Czech Republic.
France are a shadow of previous years, hey they need Anelka they are that bad, Portugal certainly, Italy can grind any team into submission, You have Van the man, plus Robben/babbl and the guy from celtic with the really stupid name.:)

germany wins this, no doubt.. :) other teams who could win this (only if germany wouldnt be there of course.. ;)) are france, italy and czech republic.. I´m a bit sad england isnt there, I like their way playing, resembles my way of playing pretty well, hard but (mostly) fair.. :rotate:

Ok guys and gals. Head over to that link above and register and then enter the code to join the league. For those of you who have played fantasy football before dont read on but for those who havent read on.
You get allocated money to spend on building your team. Different players cost different amounts so spend wisley. Its easy to want Ronaldo, Ribery, Torres and everyone else but as you will see you need to spend in a balanced manner.
You get points per player depending on how he plays in the tournament per match. Goals get lots of points, even more if you are a captain. A red card will get you points deducted. The rules are there so you can read up on it. You can chop and cahnge your team as much as you want until the tournament starts to get building now. But when it starts I think its only 1 free transfer per match day otherwise you get points deducted.

the dutch are filled with quality strikers, Nistelrooy, Van Persie, Hunterlaar...tough to choose one.
I got Kuyt/Robben in the midfield for assists.

During the group stages there are matchdays where you can transfer players.
Cool I just got in Jankulovski for CR at LB. Hes actually a decent player. I had Puyol before.

He did screw up on the penalty tho, with that really dumbass start-then pause penalty rubbish that he does.
Fortunately for him tho, Terry missed.
Yes, it was a stupid way of taking the penalty. But...did he or did he not score on the final...did he or did he not win the trophy (with his team)??? Lucky or not in the end, he WON. He was also the best scorer of CL. And Premier League. And won that also.
Also, don´t forget what other great players have done with penalties in the past (i am remembering Baggio, etc), it happens to all.
Its really pathetic to still be putting reserves around him...in the match with Turkey even not being at his full, he was always a menace, made assists, had always 3 guys folowing him, hit the post, etc...

On Dutch tv was said that in the beginning the Dutch were not even playing that good. France did attack way more than Italy butt just kept missing. If the Netherlands now let Romania win then Both Italy and France are out:). Holland - Romania was such a weird match. We were playing with allmost all our substitutes and Romania had to win this match, but they played like they had nothing to lose. In the first half it seemed like our players were intentionally missing the biggest chances just to let Romania win, because we don't want to meet Italy or France in the semi-final again (it will be a completely different match then). Even the first goal just seemed like an accident. :) But the Romanians just didn't want to win. They didn't attack, weren't fierce, they had no winnersmentality. Too bad and very strange.

What an unbelievable match again, I can't believe the Turks scored just a few seconds before the end of the match. They were great with the penalties. My sympathies to the Croats too. Overall I think they deserved to win, but hey, it's soccer and Turkey isn't all that bad.
All the Turkish people are celebrating here in Amsterdam. What a party for them :D

Amazing how one minute Rustu was running back to his goal like a stupid fish out of water and then its back to 1-1.
I can see them getting at the German defence aswell. Germany are strong and dominant in the air so Rustu will have to sort himself out but I think it could be an interesting game.
I`m satisfied with our game.
Everybody risen us to the skies, but I knew what were their limits.

The same thing happen in Greece and I suppose in a lot of countries .
I thing Croatia deserved to win , they had a lot of chances to goal during the 90 minutes but I can't understand why they react like this after their goal :confused:

Turkey knows how to win matches in the end and Croatia must knew that .
In penalties Turkey had the mind and strength to stay cool and just to shoot , something that Croatian players didn't manage to do .

I don't think so . They had chances , Rustu showed his quality in penalties , in normal part I think he was a lil lucky too .

Yeah im with Russia now to win it. Its still a long way to go but they are a capable squad. It was a big risk including Arshavin in the squad knowing he wouldnt play in the first 2 games but its paid off.

Traitor!!!! It's one of the few very beautiful things of our country, that we go nuts and everyone dresses in orange, put flags outside, etc. It's like 3 weeks of queensday! Yesterday evening I was in the centre of Amsterdam and all the squares were orange, people dressed in orange, tv screens outside the pubs, live music, it was amazing. Just a shame we lost.
Btw, the turkish craziness is much worse. Everyone is saying "hmmmm, I don't hope Turkey wins tonight, because that will mean another night without sleep". Can I say honking cars all night long? Much worse than the orange craziness. ;)

lmao I was happy that we were till this round so I dont care anymore.. I knew we would loose cause we had no players.. Overall we played better than germany.. our goalkeeper made some stupid mistakes.. if we had the same players with volkan as goalkeeper we would won..

I wouldnt be so quick to write Germany off. Many make that mistake and they always have a habit of getting to the final. Sure the German defence looks leaky but if Spain have a boring game like they did against the Italians anything can happen. I acually hope Germany score first so Spain have to come out and attack.
