View Full Version : The golden era of music!!
I reckon the music in the "charts" is utter drivel these days, what decade do you regard as being "the golden era" of music!! :)
The 70-is are the golden era IMO. Fantastic rock bands, songs which totally changed the world.
Then goes the "silver" era- 80-is.
Yeah too right. 70's is the golden Era. They dont make rock like they used to any more. All the great bands have been replaced largley with a bunch of half talanted junkies.
70´s no doubt. But i guess it depends on what age you are.
Depends. I mean im 25 and im always listening to 70s rock. It all depends on how much you like a particular genre of music then your willing to go back and listen to everything.

I´d add the 60´s to the 70´s, both deserve great attention imho! just think of bands like chicago, the kinks, the who, small faces, the rolling stones, jimi hendrix, etc. ... -> all 60´s!
70's without doubts
led zeppelin, black sabbath, cream, deep purple, pink floyd, jimi hendrix
all the rock veterans!

60's and 70's. I've discovered a lot of good current bands, but very rarely signed.
70's without doubts
led zeppelin, black sabbath, cream, deep purple, pink floyd, jimi hendrix
all the rock veterans!
Dont forget Van Halen. :)

The 80's spawned far better music in the last century than any other decade.
XTC
Prince
Richard Thompson
Talking Heads, I know they were about in 77 but they produced their best in the 80's
Japan
SoundGarden
Pogues
The Smiths especially The Smiths, do you know that Melody Maker had Morissey on their cover more times in the 80's than any other band/solo artist
ELVIS!!
Costello that is, the other one is dead
Split Enz
Tom's Waite and Petty
Richard Thompson
Show of Hands
but yes, there was some awful rubbish
The 21st century! Music from Paris Hilton, Linday Lohan and Britney Spears!
Nah but seriously 80's Michael Jackson THRILLER!
