2008 Season started today in Australia. Only 7 Cars crosed the finishing line one of them was dsq later on. Hamilton got a flying start to his chapmionship dream by winning. Ferrari were no where and both cars had to retire bcoz of Engine problems thats after both drivers made mistakes on track(Missing TC).
Here are the results.
1. Hamilton
2. Heidfield (Very strong race)
3. Rosberg (First podium of his carrer)
4. Alonso (Pushed the Renault beyond its limits)
5. Kovalanien (Unfortunate to miss the podium bcoz of saftey car)
6. Nakjima
7. Bourdais (Retired)
8. Kimi (Retired)
All I have to say about the race is that Kimi sucks... :)
All I have to say about the race is that Kimi sucks...
I've seen some videos of him in youtube where he was completely drunk, falling down etc... I was quite shocked! :) I hope he gets competitive this year though cause I am a ferrari fan...
Ferrari dominated at KL. They were on the front row of the grid with massa outpacing kimi. Half way the race Massa made a costly mistake and spun his car to retirement, otherwise it would have been a Ferrari 1-2. Here are the top 8.
1. Kimi (Excellent race after a horrible weekend at oz)
2. Kubica (2nd 2nd Place finish for bmw in two races)
3. Kovlianien
4. Truli (A very good race for him kept hamilton behind in closing laps)
5. Hamilton (a pit error probably cost him a podium)
6. Heidfield
7. Webber
8. Alonso
This season is already hoting up. Hamilton is leading the chamiponship with 14 points after two races. Kimi is three points behind him on 11 so is heidfield. BMW are looking very strong this season. I wont be surprised if the win couple of races this season.
Driver i think who wil be replaced before the season end is Flipe Massa. He has alreday made made 3 mistakes in two GPs. And hasnt scored a single point.
To Mods Could you change the thread tittle to F1 2008. Thank you
FIA threaten sanctions after Lewis abuse
The FIA has threatened sanctions against the Spanish GP after spectators shouted abuse at Lewis Hamilton during this weekend's pre-season test at Barcelona.
Hamilton was jeered and insulted when he moved between the McLaren motorhome and the team's garage at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Montmelo, near Barcelona, on Saturday.
The abuse aimed at the 23-year-old and his team finally reached a point where the team asked the track officials to shut down the entry to the spectators grandstand facing the McLaren garages.

faw,
Thanx a million buddy.
The season has just started, it's gonna be very difficult to tell who is gonna snatch 2008 WDC, hope it's enthralling like 2007..
The race result may not show it, but Kimi Raikkonen dominated the Spanish Grand Prix from the pole position to take his second win of the season and to further extend his championship lead. Raikkonen’s win, the 17th of his career, continued the now eight year run at Circuit de Catalunya that has seen the pole-sitter claim the race victory.
There was plenty of drama, if not much passing during the 66-lap event, as Raikkonen launched his Ferrari from the pole position ahead of Felipe Massa in the sister F2008..

Kovalainen was very lucky in that crash! No broken bones in that kind of crash is a miracle! All in all a VERY dramatic race if you take to account that normally F1 races in that barcelona circuit are just dead-boring. Atleast something happened. :)

ive fallen asleep during every single one this year so far...maybe its a hint that i am starting to find f1 boring?
did see that crash though, had me off my seat thinking omg omg hope hes ok

Lucky indeed. It was a 'miracle' that the 26-year-old was able to emerge only with concussion from an impact that was measured by telemetry at 27G.
The team has established that Kovalainen's speed was approximately 240km/h when the tyre deflated and about 130km/h when he hit the tyre barrier. He experienced a 27g deceleration.
CT scans at the hospital confirmed that Kovalainen had no head injuries and no broken bones but the Finn was kept in overnight for observation.
Super Aguri have withdrawn from the Formula One world championship with immediate effect, the team announced on Tuesday.
After weeks of speculation about their future following the collapse of a proposed takeover by the Magma Group, a last-minute rescue package by German automotive company Weigl Group was not good enough to keep them racing.
Linky (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/67170)
No surprise Super Aguri surrended. F1 is not a place for play. Teams like that destroy own cars and thanks to them, a real race needs to have a safety car which further complicates the race.
I can't wait to watch F1 this week. Ferraris are out of sight. McLaren fights with BMW while Renault is stepping on their feet and they can feel Williams' breath on their necks.
I bet Kimi wins Sunday, Hamilton second and third between Kubica and Massa. I want to see something similar to the Japanese race while Massa was fighting with Kubica in rain. That was the best battle ever.
1. Kimi
2. Lewis
3. Robert
4. Massa
5. Heidfeld

Nick Heidfeld took his third podium of the year in second, ahead of the sensational Rubens Barrichello, who gambled on a mid-race stint on extreme wets to take his first podium in his three seasons with Honda.

Even greater job in the race!
Hope he wins the championship this year, he really deserves..
With all the F1 championship leaders who used to be locked with the same points tally, Hamilton has proven that he's favorite to be world champion this year. However will he screw up again?
Btw I hate Barrichello... :)
Ferrari seriously missing Ross Brawn , Strategies just not what it used to be.
Lewis was very good, but Massa should have not let me go by that easily he wont have if it had been Kimi or Alonso.
though i am kimi fan , i hope Alonso drives ferrari next season.
He is so good, last race he drove all race in wet with one set of tyres that was brilliant.
Thank you Massa! Keep going that way bro!
Congrats to Heiki and McLaren!
Boring race, but exciting world championship standings... :)

Racing was boring, but at least there was drama at the end. Really sorry for Massa, but that's F1 for you :-/ Hopefully in the future Kimi remembers to hit that gas pedal all the way down before the last stint, but anyways it might be Brazil again where we see the final verdict for the WDC if it continues like this.
Congratulation Kovalainen for the first win!

Quite agree :-/
In Valencia, somehow, Massa didnt get even a stop-go penalty. However, when EXACTLY the same thing happened in GP race, same weekend, they gave the driver pit penalty. This is how unfair FIA is with their decisions.

what a load of b******s why oh why they robbed him of the title last year as a rookie now they make crappy decisions on stop go penalties and risk him losin the title again. Think this is more to do with if the championship goes as close as it did last year theyll get more ratings but decisions like these will inevitibly put more people off watching the sport than encourage real F1 fans to watch
That was very harsh.
Though i think Lewis must have a bit of momentum with the short cut he took , because he dint back of much while letting kimi pass ..he was accelerating very quickly .
(may be its the KIMI FAN in me speaking :D )
Only person who can beat Lewis is Alonso, no matter what people say about Alonso is a cry baby..and all crap ,He is absolute genius.
And FIA is too pro Ferrari , which i love by the way :)
sorry Brits here .... Lewis will win the championship this year don't worry about that.
Because Ferrari has to choose there driver to whom all the parts will go to.
and sadly that's Massa , he is no match for Lewis .
if you ask me about whether he got extra bit from the corner yes but that did not changed the result i mean kimi lost control so i think if you wanted to penalise lewis should have done by some 10-20000 Euros.
put 10 quids on Lewis to be p1 next race.
Loved kimi today by the way.:jump:
EDIT:
A McLaren spokesman said: "We looked at all our data and also made it available to the FIA stewards. It showed that, having lifted, Lewis was 6km/h slower than Kimi as they crossed the start/finish line.
"Having passed the lead back to Kimi, Lewis repositioned his car, moving across and behind Kimi to the right-hand line and then outbraked him into the hairpin. Based on this data, we have no option other than to register our intention to appeal."
Probably the reason for lewis being handed penalty is F1 is not a sport any more its more of a Business.
EDIT
Q. We all know what the decision of the stewards is now, but could you tell us what was your first impression, your first reaction when you saw this manoeuvre between Kimi and Lewis?
SD: Personally, I think it was a little bit extreme.

That's just pathetic... Damn I enjoyed the last few laps of battle Kimi vs Hamilton. Hamilton took that one fair and square and deserves the first place... Too much BS bureaucracy in F1 today. First great battle of this season for podium and then FIA makes this kind of decision. PATHETIC!!! And that's from a Finn and a Kimi fan!
I think the outcome of McClaren's appeal may rest with public opinion. If the FIA take notice of how many people think it's wrong, they may reverse the decision. My personal opinion is that I'd say Hamilton backed off enough and should keep the win. If this view is the majority and it looks like viewers will stop watching, the FIA will probably overturn it.
The FIA will then call a hearing in Paris in the next few weeks. But under regulations there is no right of appeal for a drive-through penalty.
Link here (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/motorsport/article1659789.ece)
This out of track driving was a big advantage for Hamilton. So the penalty is the right decision her.
This out of track driving was a big advantage for Hamilton. So the penalty is the right decision her.
Second that.
C'mon guys, you cant be serious
I admit that I am a huge Ferrari fan but come on guys, Hamilton made a huge mistake!!! A beginner's mistake, he must pay the consequences. I don't think Hamilton will ever win the championship, I don't think he has what it takes.. Massa will win this year, the next year... I don't know. In 2010 will begin Alonso's reign at Ferrari. You will see...
LE: I also admit that over the years, FIA "helped" Ferrari...
Everybody has his opinions i personally think
This was the worst decision in Formula One History
You cannot take back such an awesome race no matter who wins it...we been craving for fights like this since schumi and mika and now when we get it look what FIA does.
I want KIMI to win but not like this ... Lewis drove brilliantly and he did deserve the P1
SALIERI Dude whats up? Lewis does not have what it takes ... WHO HAS IT THEN?
Lewis will win this years championship.. he is brilliant , very very good ...next to ALonso and Kimi.
But at his age he is as good as Alonso was.
Dont doubt my thing for ferrari and kimi but Lewis will win , Ferrari has screwed up this year with reliability , Stratery and you can't deny that.
It will be very sad for me to see lewis take away championship this year but thats what will happen.
cheers to good racing from now on.

Well for me Hamilton is probally the least driver i want to win, but if Kimi would have had this same penalty i would have probally stopped watching F1. I mean this is RACING series still? There need to be fights on track.
Second that.
I want the best/fastest driver to win the title, i do not want it to be determined by biased, petty and discriminatory judgements in favour of whatever donkey happens to be sat in whichever Ferrari vehicle,
In my opinion Hamilton got an advantage by cutting the chicane," Trulli told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Had he stayed on the road, he wouldn't have had the speed to overtake the Ferrari.
"In the same way at Monza someone could cut the first chicane, catch a rival's draft, and overtake him under braking at Roggia.
"When you attack on the outside, you do it at your own risk, because who's on the inside has the right to do the corner. If there isn't enough room, then you lift.
"Had there been a wall there, instead of the surfaced escape route, would Lewis have attacked anyway? Had there been gravel, he wouldn't have had the chance to attack when rejoining the track because of dirty tyres."
I want the best/fastest driver to win the title, i do not want it to be determined by biased, petty and discriminatory judgements in favour of whatever donkey happens to be sat in whichever Ferrari vehicle,
There are many excellent drivers at 2nd rated teams that are better than Kimi, Hamilton, etc but they have not so great cars. Take for example Kubica, if you put him in a Ferrari or a McLaren I think he will win everything there is to win..
What I'm trying to say is that if Kimi wins a race, he isn't the fastest driver, I know this sounds weird but this is how I see it. We will know who is the fastest driver when all the cars will be equal and that will be... NEVER :)
Almost all drivers said Lewis had an advantage , but everyone said that taking away his top podium was a bit harsh .
Stewards were right i guess.
There was a time when Alonso was regarded as the fastest driver in any car, yet Hamilton outclassed him last year... Due to Hamilton's inexperience he lost the world title... We'll see if he does the same with a Massa we haven't seen before...
Ferrari confirm Raikkonen to end of 2010
Alonso should have been in Ferrari instead of Massa.

Alonso should have been in Ferrari instead of Massa.
Then we could have seen similar Hamilton vs. Alonso rivalry between Kimi and Alonso like in McLaren last season. Not really good for the team.
yeah i know 2 champions in 1 team is always crazy but driver of Alonso's caliber will go waste .
and moreover you can handle the situation in Ferrari better than they did at Mclaren, well Alonso was the champion then and mostly preference was given to Lewis as he was/is Ron's baby.

mmm.... the singapore race is a gamble at best. Its gonna be at night so chances are - it's gonna be running slow, not as fast as they'd run in daylight. Which in turn would be bad for the sport (since it's a spectator sport)... coz people dont like to see slow moving F1 cars.
on the other hand, if they are able to pull this off, and they deliver the kind of race excitement and speed that's the same as in daylight... then it's gonna be historic!!
anyway... some are voicing concerns about the race:

Huge mistake from ferrari not to sign Alonso.
Great race from Hamilton, if you want to win championship you have to be one the podium if not the top step.
he has been there almost every race .
7 points with 3 race to go and so many problem for ferrari at pit stops ... no way Massa will win the championship IMO.
Damn it !!!! Massa still has a chance...........
My favorite part of the race was when Coulthard attempted to overtake Alonso for the command of the race.... What a way to retire... :)

Friday practice 1 and 2 i think Lewis is well in command ,he was almost 200th of a sec faster on every lap compared to Ferrari's but last lap kimi almost made it to p1 with first sector purple before locking his front wheels and ending up 4 or 5 not sure.
But basically if you betting bet on Alonso to be in top 6.

Lewis 0 fastest lap = Awesome intelligent Driving.
