hi mobile-review team,
i believe many users on this forum have had some bad experience to find an image which correspond to the strict conditions of 50*50 pixels
i think a bigger image can only do good as you would have bigger choice of images and even insert some personal photo:) how do you think

Well, I'm working now on the creation of a forum (;))and I can say that big avatars usually kill the bandwidth... If you have 1 million pages seen/month the traffic can exceed 50-60Gb... .

Also, avatars and signatures can irritate some people and make a forum not very serious...

But this is just my opinion :)

couldn't it be increased a bit to maybe 75x75?? This is not too big an increase but would be at least better than the present 50x50 size

I have no problems with it, just stick your favorite phone and don't make a big deal. Mobile-review is the best mobile phone forum out there, don't be silly about it.

i used the nokia image editor, to change mine!!! handy for something seen as i cant delete it and i dont even have a nokia phone!!

I did not even know this thread existed, Avatars give warmth and character and individuality to a forum, and the bigger the better, i have begged and pleaded with SFY but to no avail!

sebset, I agree with you. Avatars are nice, but it's not worth sacrificing the speed because of them.

yeh a limit is sensible. There is nothing worst than pages taking ages an ages to load up cos some clown has large avatars

14.5k large :lol: dont make me laugh :lol: The thing that slows down this site more than anything is posted pictures!! They take forever to load up, and use infinitly more space than any avatar ever could!! :p

Posting pictures are alot more relevent as people want to see new phones or pictures taken with phones to compare the quality.

Avatars serve no practical purpose i agree. But imagine if we all went around wearing the same clothes, With a little imagination avatars can and do express our personalities and brighten forums up a lot!! I believe anyone posting pictures in here should do so using a link also. :D

I never ever even looked at any avatar of anyone posting in whatever forum. I think it is useless as they pass unnoticed through me.

This is one of the worse worries at this rate i believe 50x50 pixels is way to small.
