I don't think you can under-estimate the price advantage that the G600 & to a lesser degree the K850 & Viewty have over the N82 in affecting their sales share. That said the N95 still sold well in spite of its price.
I think you cannot count out SE here though it looks weaker than some of the others on paper the K850 does seem to have a built in market & a huge marketing campaign, I cannot seem to open a magazine without seeing an advert for the K850.
That said if the N82 is priced right & quickly falls on PAYG it could claim a large market share, certainly doing better than the N73.
The big difference to the past is their is no clear victor in image quality, all these handsets are roughly in the same area of quality, so other features will start to tell.
I don't think the G800 will play that big a hand as it seems like it may end up a bit of a niche product unlike the G600.
Super Chimp, I've added a poll to this thread.

mmm... if the market for smartphones is bigger than the market for non-smartphones, then the N82 will sell well. If it's not - then I think the N82 will become a niche product.
cheers!

Sorry, but it can't be done after the poll has been activated. :-/
n82 imo, although the g600 and the k850 won't be far behind.
N series never go on PAYG untill after discontinuation so that rules out N82,G600 has a massive head start on its main rival the K850i, Viewty still quite rare.
mweb6161 n73 did...after a long while it will :)

Quite true Jo, in the end your probably right :)
n82... ill bet my phones;)
I think it would be N82 but K850 & G600 won't be far behind.
I think the N82 will be the next hit on the market, BUT if Nokia plays it right.
N82 IMHO. I think a lot of people lost their interest in g800 .

Now that's an interesting fact I didn't know. Being as 70% of the UK market is PAYG I believe, I would have thought that fact might affect the N82 sales certainly as far as the UK goes. I think it will be a tough call between the N82, K850 & G600, I don't think I really see the G800 & LG Viewty featuring in this race. Long term I think the N82 will sell more than the N95, the K850 less than the K800 & the G600 about the same as the D900.
As individual sales of each model. i would say K850i.

1- N82
2- K850
3- G600
Viewty & G800 are below the N82 but I can't figure their position exactly :)
I think N82 is a great phone but I think K850i will top sales thanks to its Cybershot brand...

N82 will be a huge success. The Viewty is a great device, but unfortunately LG phones are still viewed unfavorably by too many, which is a shame, because LG phones are made quite well, with very little software bugs to them.

1- N82
2- K850
3- G600
That's what I think will happen too. :)
N82 for sure, but i'll buy the Viewty i think
one again, i would bet on my left ball that K850i will get more sales than even N82.
N82 is great, but it just feels incomplete compare to N73 and N95. and the design is a let down.

Totaly agree!
:)
The K850 is decent, but not up to par with K800, so if the sales goes as good as K800, it's a miracle imo, and not deserved at all.
:insane:
MArk my words. All the successors of the 6600 has been sucessful because of its factor and other reasons.

I expected the K850i to be a lot better than the device eventually turned out to be. The colours are absolutely no good, so all the photos I've seen are not even good enough to look at on the small display of the phone. Some evidence:

We tested the Viewty this week and this camera phone turned out to be a lot better than the K850i. The colour warmth is not perfect but the quality is that good that you could print the photos, something I can't say about the K850i.

So, I don't believe that the K850i will sell that good and that LG will do better this time...

In the Philippines, first place goes to N82 followed by K850 but only a small margin but if K850 is way cheaper, it will be the other way around. G600 and G800 will probably have fair sales, Samsung is not really that much of a favorite in the Philippines. Viewty will be far behind.

I doubt that camera will only be the basis of good sales. Look at the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii, they have inferior graphics compared to PSP and PS3 and yet they are way ahead in sales, shows that superior graphics isn't the only basis of better sales. Same thing with the K850 I think, and SE is more appealing and a favorite brand than LG.

It's interesting to consider what is the better product the Viewty or the N82, as of the phones included here on paper they are the highest spec taking both photo & video recording into account.
I reckon the viewty is the best LG phone seen so far in the UK, but sadly the very fact it's an LG will mean it will not sell as well as the N82. It's all in the brand name.
I think if LG vigorously marketed its 'beauty' (Viewty), the phone should fulfill iphone demand in other part of the world where iphone is not available.
What LG needs to do is convince these people that the viewty is way better than iphone.
What LG needs is Wifi in the phone! If it was wifi enabled, I would be sold!

here atleast, as long as the n82 is not hugely overpriced, then it will sell really well!
because it's feature packed and more importantly, it's Nokia.

Doesnt mean its better :rotate:
After using K800i for more than two year, I was impressed with its camera quality. Naturally I eagerly awaited the arrival of K850i. Meanwhile, I have owned number of 5MP including i-mobile 902, KG920 and Nokia 95. When K850 finally arrived, I was disappointed after doing my own research. N95 carl zesis 5MP is far superior compared to K850 in terms of color, clarity and light exposure. And I believe N82 will delivery even more superior camera quality compared to N95 being its successor. But I am sick of waiting and waiting for the launching of new phone. This week N82 was launched in taiwan and I believe HK will be next. But I have concerned over security issue on Nokia phones after visiting this website: http://www.thespyphone.com
