So, I transcoded my music library to HE-AAC files to get more music on the device with still OK quality.

Updated the music library on the phone. Worked fine...it indexed everything as it should.

Now, when I try to select a song in the Walkman app, the player crashes EACH AND EVERY time with a Kernel Exec Reason 3 error when I select either sorting by artist or by album...

I have the latest available software version on it:
Phone: R9F011
BT: R3A01
Organizer: R6A16
CDA: R4A01

Any help? Because as it is, it makes the whole player utterly useless...

Hmm...that is an odd one! Can't find another report of this particular problem, either...... :-/

BTW, latest firmware(on SEUS) is:

Phone R9GA001
BT R3A01
ORG R6E28
CDA R6E28

Reason 3 is a general Fatal Exception error, doesn't give anything away, unfortunately...sorry I can't advise anything more at this point!

Thanks...might try to find a way to unbrand it to get the real latest firmware then.

And after some experiments, I think it might be special characters in the tags that cause the problem...it can display them, but somehow it messes up the title database apparently.

Too bad, as I listen to lots of German, Icelandic and generally non-English stuff :(

Debranding?? Easiest way(also free ;) ), use XS++:

Esato debranding thread (http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=130758&start=240#post2115315)

Note: XS++ is now on V2.2(which has scripts built in), otherwise, just digest and execute! Then flash with SEUS, voila! One generic device...... :rotate:

EDIT: You could also install extra language packs to cover those foreign tracks......

EDIT: You could also install extra language packs to cover those foreign tracks......

I don't think that would help - it displays the titles right (if I start them from the file manager)...and anyway, I've experienced a few more crashes even with "normal" files, so I think the reason is something else in the end. Has anybody heard of problems with AAC files? I'll try another encoder now, maybe that solves the problem...

But anyway, thanks for the link!
