The UI looks very nice imho - thanks god it is leaps and bounds faster than on that first P520 proto video. Like the minimalistic clean look a lot...

Does anyone know what video the F700 records? VGA, QVGA, 15FPS or 30FPS?
know the real and most important question, what OS will it use?

quick question
I keep reading about how this phone doesnt have Wi-Fi, does that mean its not possible to access the internet (for checking footy scores, news, emails etc) from this phone or does it mean something else?
Elecious, of course you can access the internet - via HSDPA...

excellent, anyone got any idea when we might start seeing details of the phone on the samsung or vodafone websites? Isnt it meant to be released soon so they cant be too far away?

did I miss some thing? why it's 3MP? or it's voda version
I always wanted it from 1st day I saw it, I want it now more.
or it's voda version
I think there is no other version as of now...Vodafone has the exclusive rights to it, at least in Europe.

noticed an advert for the F700 in a magazine today along with other vodafone phones, checked the vodafone website and found the phone under the business section, does anyone know if its going to be possible to get the phone on normal contracts rather than the business ones that are offered on the blackberry style phones in the business section?
Elecious

doesnt say, just says coming soon, the magazine advert lists it with other phones and says "free phone with 1gb memory" for the F700, then lists a number of 'normal' contracts underneath them all
ok,when it comes out be sure 2 notify us :)

I've just checked what information we have on this handset and currently its looking like the middle of the month will be the earliest it will be released on Vodafone.
I'd advise checking the Vodafone Online store @ http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/ and select the Coming soon link to check for updates.
OK, pricing info for Germany (http://www.golem.de/0711/55895-2.html) (via Golem.de)
The phone is 399€, regardless of tariff (it's even the same without a tariff from what I heard :spy: ). At least it comes with a 4GB microSD, but that's not gonna save the day imho...
2 special tariff options: one for 39.95€/month (unlimited calls for the Vodafone network & landline, but calls to other networks are (!!!) 0.29€/min; data flatrate is included) and 99.95€/month (unlimited calls in all networks, unlimited SMS and data flatrate)...
Great idea Vodafone :insane: - offer a less prestigious handset at at the same price and, while lower than the iPhones contract prices, still a high contract price...not a good idea...especially the 99€ tariff is really overpriced as far as I (as an Austrian can judge that). I'd rather have a cheaper, somewhat limited (like 1000 free minutes per month and network) than a true expensive flatrate...
EDIT: OK, the Germans find the big flat tariff quite fair :spy:
Anyway: available from Friday, November, 9th - or in other words, tomorrow!

New section on the 'normal' phone shop for Vodafone
http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm?go=offers.Samsung-F700&WT_ref=comingsoon1&WT.svl=link3
so hopefully 'normal' contracts will apply to it rather than the business ones i suggested in a previous post
anymore news on release date in the UK for the F700?

so,any1 bought the phone?
I've now heard it's release date is Dec 7th in the UK
Sounds like it's a bit cheap and plasticy though after reading the review......
CBR_BOB, it does look like that too imho, on all the hands-on pictures I've seen so far...
A bit of an disappointment, especially with the LG Viewty available at a similar price point...

It's out in Voda shops now in the UK. It's larger than I thought it would be & cheaper looking as well. The G800 has a much more classy appearance.
how is that possible? it looks very nice on pictures and videos... u tested it??
guys i have a question.. i wanna order the F700 over ebay.cuz the prices are very good, about 300 euros ,and i watched the prices in uk-500 pounds :P so any1 bought a mobile from ebay? is it reliable ,do ppl cheat there? cuz they have pictures of the mobile, pictures of parts,everything..

Hey - question for anyone out there who has the phone, or has used one. I´m quite concerned about the camera in this phone. I was really disappointed with the Samsung G600's auto-focus. You don't have a choice when it focuses and when it actually takes the photo.
With SE phones, you have the option of pressing the button half-way, having the camera auto-focus, holding it there, and taking the photo (in an instant) when you're ready.
The G600 did this all in one go, so taking a photo (especially in bad light) could take up to several seconds, by which time you've generally lost the shot you wanted.
I'd much rather have a smaller MP camera that helps you take a good photo, than a larger MP camera that only takes bad ones. Anyone got any info on the F700's auto-focus?

Picked up 2 f700's from the vodafone store on Oxford St yesterday. Phone seems pretty good when you get the hang of the touch screen.

would you post pics from camera in full resolution
out now in the UK on Vodafone only - you can get it free on a £30 per month contract so cheaper than I thought it would be.....
does any body knows what's battery? 1000 mAh or less?
I ordered this phone this morning!! Awaiting it's arrival!
Should be here before 12 tomorrow morning!!! Although they have just rung me and said it was out of stock and then next thing she's telling me it's on it's way!
Getting it on the 12 month contract that's £30 a month!
Used one in a Vodafone shop on Saturday!
Was really nice to use. Hope it's as good when I have to use it everyday! :rotate:

I don't know the size of it - but a lot of people in German forums (where the handset has been available for about 2 weeks now) have indicated that battery life is less than stellar...browse for an hour, talk for half an hour and listen to MP3's for 3 or so hours, and you'll be lucky to get a day of standby beside the active usage...
If you look at the FCC images of the phone they do have it down as 1000ma!
If you look at the FCC images of the phone they do have it down as 1000ma!
it is not a smart phone, if it's true why it has weak battery life?
Wonder if anyone has a Samsung firmware for this phone? USed the samsung firmware on my U700 and it made it 10 times better so I could do with someone finding the Samsung firmware for the F700 to unbrand it!
Anyway the phone is good, camera is the only thing that lets it down! Not sure why Samsung keep putting crap cameras in their phones when there are so many better ones out there!!
The touch screen of this phone is very good along with the sliding keyboard, both work well and the only problem is then choosing which one you want to use and when!
n1vag,
I got this phone and the ipod touch on the same day and have been using both for 20 odd hours now, and I have to say the ipod touch screen is much better and the OS is 100 times better!!
But the F700 is still good, but just alittle "different" in the menus, plus the touch screen sometimes presses the wrong button, when I clearly pressed for the menu the phone pad comes up!
Hey is anyone else having trouble with this phone ive had it for over 2 weeks but have now sent it back as if i make a call for more than 5 minutes the whole phone seems to freeze and no matter what i do like pressing the button or lock unlock it or open the keypad will get it going again.
also the camera is rubbish...samsung cameras are hugely dissapointing they are nowhere near as good as SE
The phone is also extremely slow
is this just mine???
so going to get the SE w960 now...ooo cant wait until jan now
The phone is also extremely slow
If you don't want a slow phone, then the W960 won't make you happy either. Just fyi.
And that whole freezing problem sounds like a hardware defect - that is not normal for sure.

Mud, I havent had any problems like that, not to be too personal have you got big fingers? I have quite thin fingers and every press of the screen does exactly what I want it to! Still cant find a button to make me tea though!!!
Any one got any news on the Samsung original Firmware?
n1vag, lol I dont have big fingers as using the touch is fine, its just the touchscreen on the samsung does not seem as intuitive.
Like everyone I am waiting for the original firmware, plus some bloody apps or something for this phone! Everyone was saying thats its the iphone killer yet wheres the development!!!!!!
Had an F700 for a few days now, enough time to offer a reasonable opinion.
Firstly build quality, Plastics are very high quality and the slider is typical tight, snappy nicely sprung giving great satisfaction and confidence.
The size and weight are not unreasonable given the qwerty keyboard and LARGE screen, but it is heavier than what i'm used to thats for sure (139g) :D.
3.2" screen is pretty wonderful, 240x440 res makes the most of it too, colour definition not up to N95 8gb standards but much superior to all the HTC variants.
TS interface is really superb and ultra responsive, just glide your finger over the suface and the cursor will smoothly follow, EVERYTHING is accessed using your digit, it cannot discern two fingers on screen like the iphone but otherwise it's very impressive and i for one will never revert back to a stylus driven device ever again :D.
Music player is pretty good (u600 quality) with a 3.5mm jack just for chlettns benefit :D.
Camera is satisfactory, 3 and a bit MP with 2 stage AF does a fair job.
Qwerty keyboard is what elevates the F700 above its rivals IMO, vastly superior to "virtual" on screen jobs such as the viewty and iphone sport.
The F700 lacks WiFi (but no NON smartphones really have it anyway) but i do miss it, however it sticks two fingers up at the W960i by having HSDPA :D.
Overall i am really pleased with the F700 and can happily recommend it to any of you looking for a primarily TS device, i was seriously looking to buy either an iphone/viewty/W960i but all in all the F700 can hold it's head high in that company with no bother at all!!

I recently got this phone as an upgrade. I was impressed that it infact did not cost as much with the contract upgrade (i wont go into the details) I do however have a couple of queries.
This phone is advertised as being able to view facebook. I constantly get this "unable to redirect" error on it. so i am not sure if it is able to handle cookies.
There are also times that the phone just reboots and i dont know why. It could be because of the applications i am trying to run.
My previous phone was a sumsung SGH E 600 and never really had MP3 or videos on my phone but now that i do i notice how long it takes to upload a file to the phone. Is there a faster way to do this?
Does any one maybe know where to get support for this phone on the web?
Fragmint, Had mine for over 4 months now and it has never rebooted!! Never tried Facebook so not sure about your problem there but I know there is a way to delete cookies which means that it obviously accepts them to some degree!
Anyone been able to find the original firmware yet? I bet the original firmware will make it 10 times better, just like the U700!
