Is it possible to use flash based backgrounds and themes for the S40 interface? The 5th edition of S40 comes with Flash Lite 2.1 vs 2.0 on previous versions, does this make much of a difference?

nokia will likely move to a more 3d UI... like the multimedia menu in the n95 and the V menu animations that appear on fp1

Jo, but to me flash themes are more attractive.

So that essentially means? :insane: That S40 cannot support flash themes?

Not even with Flash Lite 2.1??

Sorry, i am not so sure. For example, s40 5th edition supports multitasking which will arrive Q4, 2007. But currently all s40 5th edition doesn't support multitasking. So we can hope flash based handset from nokia very soon. I request to the person to tell something who knows something true about it .<Elder, playdead, badger>

What is the definition of a Flash theme vs. a normal theme?

A flash theme is animated and often drastically alters the apperance of icons etc.

If a flash theme completely changes the icons in the main menu, then I have flash themes on my 6300... :-/

flash animates icons, backgrounds, everything.
look at the s500i review.
nokia has had static looking icons forever compared.

Flash can also interact with the phone's internal functions(time/date/lighting, like T650/S500, or currently playing ID3 tags, like walkmans), and even add functionality(I've seen themes which come with in-built security code access locks)...when manipulated correctly......

So do the new Nokias (6500 Slide, 5610, etc) support it (flash themes)? That's the answer we're all curious about, aint it.

not exactly 3d, but 2d with faux 3d effect.
still looks like they came off a 7210.:)
no flash themes for s60 or s40 yet.
