Japanese PS3's do play PS3 games region free (all PS3's play any-region PS3 games), however

1. This White PS3 is Japan only, so you might be hard pressed finding it in Hong Kong

2. This White PS3 is a new PS3 that is replacing the 60GB model, with a new, cheaper 40GB range that takes out the memory card readers, 2 USB slots, and backwards compatiblity with PS2 titles

3. You will need a TV that supports NTSC signals, UK uses PAL (but most PAL TV's can run NTSC & PAL signals)

4. DVD's, Blu-Ray's, and PS1 games from your country will not work on it

If you are ok with the above then all should be good :)

hong kong is the first place outside Japan to get parallel import from them, you will have no problem finding a white PS3 12 hrs after the Japan launch in shops in Hong Kong
