Self-portrait mirrors on phones discussion

I've observed that self-portrait mirrors are fairly inconsistent among manufacturers. On SE, the lower end and midrange W300, K550/W610 models have it while the flagship K850 doesn't have it. Same with Nokia with 6500, N95, Samsung and others. Flip phones seem to be able to use the extrenal display as self portrait hence they don't need mirrors.

Are self-portrait mirrors an important feature? How come they are left out on high end models?

All the phones that have a 3G rarely have an self portrait mirror because of their secondary videocall camera which also can serve for self portrait but it shows the image on the screen which i think it's much more convenient than watching yourself on a tiny mirror .
I personally use the mirror on my phone rarely mainly because it too small and it's hard to see on it .

Hmm, that may explain somewhat but other than using it for calls (no choice here right?) I don't see the secondary camera mostly CIF or QCIF as the choice for a self portrait versus the main camera which is usually 2+ megapixels :confused: . I think most would rather mirror, won't they :insane: ?

just point and shoot. practice makes perfect.
