How does USB Charging for Nokia models work? ie 6500 slide, 7500 prism, etc. Do you HAVE to plug the phone to a computer? Or can it charge from other USB (non computer) sources?

I've got a Creative Zen V Plus mp3 player which 'claims' it has USB charging. But in reality, USB charging is only available when the player detects connection to a computer. Which means my wall socket-to-USB cable charger does not work.

I hope Nokia's phones are not like Creative Music Players since one of my reasons to upgrade is for USB charging - I've this compact power pack which can charge any devices with USB and if this works with my (future) phone, that's fantastic!

Nokia dedicated DC port is for charging regardless what connector at the other end. It can be

3pin adapter (wall) to DC port
3pin adapter (wall) with USB port to DC port
USB port (computer) to DC port

See all must go to Nokia DC port then only it's charging.

knights the top 5 actually.
they choose microusb as a standard port but that doesn't mean they leave out 3.5mm/2.5mm ports and chargers.
