What's point of bluetooth if that things has wires?

I don't know if its the best sounding, but the Motorola S9 sure has the best design and looks.

How is Nokia's BH-501? It costs nearly half of DS970 here. I want to know whether its any good. If its good then'll buy it for my W710i. Some one please tell me about its sound quality.

Sound quality depends on Bluetooth headset or phone with a2dp or both??

I really hope SE brings out something similar to the S9, using in-canal earphones like its DS 970. Spending so much for a WIRELESS headphone, I really wouldn't want even an inch of wire dangling anywhere on my body.

The BH 501 has a decent audio quality when using my E2, E6, slightly lower volume on the P990i. I don't know about the DS970 which I had been tempted to get despite its being almost twice as expensive as the BH501 because of its in-canal construction which based on experience gives the best sound of all earphones.

But if you are used to some of the finest wired earphones out there, A2DP headphones still have room for improvement. I think most of the models from Motorola, SE, Jabra and Nokia are your first generation A2DP headphones and should improve with succeeding iterations. Volume is often the problem, lacking the sensitivity of the better wired earphones. But in terms of frequency response, they are acceptable, with enough detailing and bass to give the mp3 the right fullness.

I suggest you ask a local dealer to have one tested on your A2DP handset. I was able to test a Jabra 620 after waiting for about 10 mins of charging. Same with the BH501 at the time I got it.

I have a SE W710i. I'm really frustrated with SE's headsets. Although the speakers and sound quality is good, the connector is very poorly designed. It becomes loose within a few days of usage and subsequently breaks meaning one has to buy a new headset even if just the connector breaks. Thats why i wanted A2DP headsets. BH-501 is the cheapest and best and hence i was considering it. I don't want extremely good sound quality or ear-splitting volume. I think BH-501 should be good enough for me.

If you consider the DS970, you should instead get the Sony adapter where you can plug in your own headphones. I dont know the model number of it.

If you accidentally snap the cord of the DS970, you are dead meat. If you do snag the cord of the the thing I'm talking about, you still have your nice expensive BT adapter in one piece. The $40US Sony EX71 (or similar model headphone) would go great with it. Not too expensive to cry about if it gets broken.

I know Nokia has an adapter like it, the BH-500. But that thing is kinda ugly.

^^ I think its called MBH-100 or something like that. Its nice but you can't make/recieve calls with it. Also one has to have a decent enough headphone already to attach to it, which i don't. Buying that would add to cost and would reach that of DS970.

If this is going to be your first A2DP headphone, the BH501 is a good one to start with. Let me just warn you that it does not support AVRCP or remote control profile. Unlike most other A2DP headphones, you can't control the volume and REW, FF, etc from the headset.

It's disappointing that they are selling the BH501 here (Philippines) at its release price ($130) while its current price is now only at $60.

Does it have good audio quality? It works with the 5300 XpressMusic, right? How long does its battery last? It's rechargeable, right?

What about Nokia HS-12W?

Has anybody used that? - I like to listen to radio, but understand if your phone has a radio it won't work via stereo bluetooth headset.
Thinking about getting Samsung U700, but not sure about bluetooth compatibility - can you update firmware in bluetooth headsets as well as phones?

The speakers used are the same ones as found in Nokia's regular stereo headsets which means they sound very average with almost no bass. Only advantage is the display and built-in radio. 501 is better imo.

Its introductory price was P2,600 back in December or January. But I got mine at P3.6T two months ago. So it's closer to $80 now. I like its frequency response better than the motorola HT820, more bass, louder and more comfortable. I think it lasts about 10 hours on a single charge though I haven't used it that long as my cellphone would first die out before the headphone did.

I don't know about the earphones that go with the 5700 package but all I can say is that the sound quality of the BH501 is decent enough, clear highs and good bass. Just don't expect it to sound as full-bodied as the finer wired in-canal earphones out there. And it can be tad weaker in volume than many finer earphones.

With most handsets, I believe you need the wired earphones' wires to act as FM antenna before playing the radio. With my E2, E6 and P990i, the built-in radio won't play using A2DP earphones, I'm always asked to use a wired earphone.

Yes you can make calls as it has a built-in mic.

I have one more question. Does the special DSP of the 5700 make a difference in the sound quality of bluetooth headphones???

I don't think it matters. My understanding is most newer music cellphones have DSP/DAC circuits to process and convert the various digital music codecs to analog to drive your headphones. Using A2DP, I reckon the digital data are streamed wirelessly to the A2DP headphone unit and it is the A2DP headphone that does the analog conversion. So it seems to me that the DAC circuits of cellphones are bypassed when using A2BP. But the DSP circuits are not if they are used to do some equalziation presets on the phone. I am not familiar with the 5700 though.

I have a SE K790i and am using the SE HBH-PV 705 BT headset. I really like the size/feel/ sound quality of the pv705.

1)However, even though the k790 is supposed to have a A2DP profile i am unable to listen to music on it? (I've made sure that the headset supports music playback).

2) Do I have to buy a stereo bt headset to stream music? (If this is necessary, which stereo bt do you guys recommend?)

Some advice please?

Thanks :insane:

you do need to have stereo bluetooth headset to play music.

if you want something small, with pretty good quality, try out hdh-ds200.
, great. but if you want something even better quality, try bt50. quality is .... you will like it. both currently i am using it.

ds970, quality is not too bad, not much breaking of signal. hbh-ds200 is good , clear. for bt50, rate it 8 above.

If they place FM radio and improve call recipient quality of Moto s9, then i think it is the best bt stereo headset ever existed.

Just cool to have that thing around your neck and your phone strapped on the arm while jogging without dangling wire, without to worry if your sweat gets in it or miss any important call (BTW, i dont think we can wear BH501 while running)

Anyway iqtidar, i cant find S9 anywhere here, do you manage to purchase one? I heard around RM380? (BH501 only RM199)

I got a BH-501 from the N-Series LA event.

Its pretty good sound quality, but it has serious connection issues with my N95.
The lack of controls is also a bummer.
I use it all the time at the gym. It's good for exercise if the connection can sustain itself.
