Can you advise please. I am thinking about getting a touch when Orange get then in stock.

I assume that you have to be online to receive weather up-dates on the touch. This is not a feature I would use. I look out of the window :)

Can the weather information on the first screen be changed for something else? Otherwise it seems a waste of space if it is not used.

Also what is the screen like to view in sun light?

Thanks

i'm thinking of buying it.... but its not yet released in my country. Touch Flo is a nice eyecandy ui and underneath its wm6... so, its good as they haven't left out basic features like in the iphone.

If u get it first then give us a mini review otherwise, i'll write mini review about it here.

I'd never bastardise it with an Orange logo :-)

Oh, go on then.

faw, I don't think it has problems with RAM unless you load many big programs. I guess it should have a lot more free RAM than your N73 (my guess would be 40-50 MB compared to around 20 MB on the N73). What are you thinking of using it for?

I just got the Touch, great phone. Extremely easy on the eyes! Feels very good too. Performance? Despite what they say, its not all that bad. I've seen faster processors on WM phones but this isn't as slow as they make it sound. I had a Motorola A1200 which comes with a faster processor but the touch seems faster though technically the processor is slower.

I loaded quite a few applications, work great! Wifi is very good, I've used skype without any problem via Wifi, no distortion. Speaker quality is really good too. Music playback is pretty impressive. Nice and loud, so you can really enjoy it whether standalone or with the headphones. Headphones are pretty good in build with a volume control right on the headset itself so thats cool.

The touchflo is pretty nifty and though you'd think its a gimmick, its actually pretty helpful. The HTC WM skin in black is cool to have around but I noticed that using one of the default WM skins makes the phone more responsive.

It came standard with a 1gb card so you can sync it with your music easily and take it wherever you go. Camera? CRAP! its fine for daylight shots but then again, if ur buying this phone, im sure it isnt for a cam.

Battery life so far is average but then again, i've been fiddling with it a LOT! Overall I'd recommend this phone, its a cheaper alternative, HTC makes sure the phone is truly usable without the stylus (as they say, u can give this phone the finger instead! hehe), they interface (touchflo and HTC homescreen) grows on you. Compared to some of the competition, its a cheaper alternative if you're looking to use a moderate number of apps and aren't really looking for a power user solution.

Hope this helps,
Cheers

few things i notice.

i get the memory low problem when im on the browser! it doesnt shut like the other smartphone but the annoying pop ups kept popping!! very annoying.
5-6 six application is the most it can handle.. and even that it begin to slow down. one more thing. i just compared the sound quality to my P990i and touch doesnt have bass at all. like i said before very comparable to ipod nano lol.

wifi connection is very strong. email client is very powerful. touchflo is fun to use and the HTC home is very useful. reception is normal. also tons of very nice free application are available for wm.

in conclusion. my touch is gonna forsale very soon. :insane:

vanilla, did you install ActiveSync before or after you connected Touch to the computer? What happens when you connect it and which version of ActiveSync have you installed?

Hi, I have installed ActiveSync 4.5.0.
1. I plugged in my Mobile device thru USB cable.
2. Installed the software.
3. Whenever i am trying to connect, it goes into 'Connecting' state and then i get a message 'Cannot connect' or 'Discnnected' or 'Mobile device not found.
4. I checked the troubleshooting part in the manual, according to that i unchecked 'Enable Advanced Network Functionality' which is licated in Start -> Settings ->Connection Tab -> USB to PC. Still i am not able to connect.
I hope this much info. is enough for you to help me out.

Please let me know if any other details you need.

Thank You for your prompt reply

Hi,

I am facing a porblem in my HTC Touch, whenever i play any video's in fullscreen mode in windows media player, the video is not visible. The screen turns blank. But the video will be playing, i can see the video running if i tap on the screen since the size will reduce.
If i restart the HTC and then run any video in fullscreen mode, it runs smoothly.. HAs anyone faced this kind of problem ?

Please let me know...

Thanks...

Maybe you could try and install a different version of ActiveSync. I have had problems getting it to connect a few times. Every time I just tried installing the same version or another version and after some fiddling around it usually works again.

Maybe there is a plug-in to make TCPMP support AC3, but I don't know. Try to make a Google search. Else you can try CorePlayer, but it's not free.

I haven't experienced that.

I think it does support AAC (or are you talking about MPEG video with AAC sound?), but I guess you can just try and see if it works.

Can we set different alarm tones on HTC Touch other than the system defined ?
The pre-defined ones are useless....:(

You should be able to choose your own alarm tone. I think it's in the same place under settings where you choose ring tone, new-message tone, etc. MP3 should be supported. I don't think AAC is, though.

MP3 should be supported in WM6. You could also try WMA.

Hi Friends,

I would like to know, while receiving any file via bluetooth, can we set any default location on storage card ? Since the default folder is my Documents on the phone.. which i would like to change, since the device's mem is less.
Please let me know regarding this...

Thanks,
Amit
