6310i to 6300 (need help.. data transfer) repost

Hi there !

I need some help with the following.

(1) Transfering contacts and sms from 6310i to 6300.

(2) Is it possible to store SMSs on the 6300 memory card for direct access like one would access numbers from the sim card. if not, is there a way to store the SMSs on the memory card.

Use Nokia PC Suite to copy the data to your PC and then again to copy it from your PC to the 6300.

But the 6310i works on version 4.

The 6300 works on version 6.82 (as installed from the CD provided).

I had tried doing what you said earlier but could not manage to transfer the SMSs.

Maybe I am missing something. FYI, the SMSs in the 6310i are saved under 'My Folders'

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you able to save the SMS's to the SIM card and then transfer them to the 6300's phone memory? SMS's are not meant to be kept, ideally they should be discarded. Are they really that important??

i managed to transfer individual contacts as business cards through bluetooth.

yes, the messages are important. so if you could please find a way i would very much appreciate it.

With Nokia PC Suite, connect your phone to your computer. Bluetooth is fast enough as a wireless solution (without all the cables fuss).

Connect your old phone to your computer. Open up File Manager when you are connected, then go to Messages. Go to Inbox, and copy out all messages to your hard disk.

Now connect your new phone to your computer. Transfer all those files you copied out to your memory card. You can do it while the memory card is on the phone.
