i knew that the p990i is better than m600, but how about the se p1, what's the comparison between the p1 and p990i?
In terms of price/feature value, the P990i wins hands down. I think the P1 will cost about 3x by the time it gets released. But I guess it's a bit strained comparing the two. The p1i is a good one year newer and sports a bigger RAM and seems to have the firmware stability that the P990i should have had when it was released. I'd have to say the P990i with its latest firmware upgrade is a pleasure to use as a multimedia phone - large screen that has no problem playing high bitrate 30fps QVGA video and an Mp3 sound quality rivaling my iPod Video. Haven't experienced a system hang or crash ever since I upgraded to the latest firmware. Admittedly it can get slow on the PDA functions as well as in contacts and messaging. I am no power user so I rarely get "not enough memory" errors and I make it a habit to end running apps in the task manager. But if getting "not enough memory" error message annoys you, get the p1i instead. I think the P1 does everything the p990i does but faster and more reliably. And if you think that's worth spending about 3X more, then do. :D
I had always wanted the P990i but was held off by its unflattering consumer reviews in a few forums I've visited. Good thing its price has plummeted at about the same time that the latest firmware upgrade has made it more stable. Also, the mem stick duo is quite cheap these days. The new M2 cards of the newer SE phones are still quite expensive where I live. The 4GB mem stick duo I got is nearly a third the price of a similar M2.

For me the P1 is the phone to have. I love the size and the keyboard.....I've had both the P990 and M600 and I like the keypad of the M600 more.
It really I guess just comes down to price one's willing to pay, cause in terms of spec, the P1 wins.....as it should it's a newer device.
The P1i would be my choice though when it comes out I expect it will be more expensive than the P990i which will probably drop considerably
P990i is bulky and ugly.

P990 is one of the best ...
- vivid video recording + superb autofocus function!!!
- large display
- decreased price
- strong specs!
- build quality
- ....
Mikslp, the p990 price is already low, dont expect more big drops
P990i is GREAT, although P1 has a BETTER Feature or performance, P990i is cheaper. I don't think the upgraded features costs as much as the the P1's price. :lol: and I like p990's look. It has a standart phone keypad for typing sms, and QWERT for typing in Office, and Touch Screen uhuy.. :jump: And I just love the camera lens cover...and the left strap holder? I don't think it's better than placed on the bottom.
The 4GB mem stick duo I got is nearly a third the price of a similar M2.

if me ill buy p990 bcoz it has bigger screen and normal+qwerty keypad... i just cant use the keypad of m600 which is similar to p1
p1 Is the obvious choice if you can wait+ have a lot of money if you buy it when its released

oops, sorry, that was a 2Gb m2 card - more expensive than a 4Gb mem stick duo. :D
SE is the best... u dont need a SDHC compatible device to use a mem card bigger then the 2 gig... now buying w950 is not worth it cause 4 gig mem is available... i saw sumwhere it stated 8gb MSPD is compatible with p990...

Seems true. A lot of sites are selling p990i accessories that include a Sony 8Gb MSPD, like these:

Is there a reason you think the P900 and the P1 aren't too good? It would probably be more helpful if you could provide a reason.
Personally I would go for the P1 (I'm considering getting one myself). I like the look of the handset and a keyboard is a nice thing to have (which is one drawback for me with the N95, another handset I've been considering). The P1 also has a more powerful camera than the P990. As for the RAM, I think that's an important consideration; rog told me that he was rather impressed with how fast the P1 runs, which is another point in its favour.

yep, P990 is quite stable and CHEAP right now. You would have to value the extended RAM, more mpixs in camera and M600i-style qwerty really a lot to justify the difference in price. IMO P990i wins hands down compared to P1i.
