View Full Version : HTC announcement on June 5
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/05/27/major-announcement-from-htc-on-june-5/
HTC is apparently going to make a "major announcement" on Tuesday, June 5.
Are they going to introduce the Elf and Kaiser, or do they have anything else up their sleeves? Are the smartphones Erato and Wings still a way off? And what about the Nike?
Any insiders who want to tease the rest of us with some information? :D
Has HTC every really announced anything before (with press conference etc)? I always got the feeling that protos appeared and suddenly it was an official device (when the press release was online)...
Anyway, hopefully this lives up to the buzz it generates!
Are you happy now? ;)

interesting, but not a beautiful phone.
Really? Not my opinion. He looks smart ;)
Is the Elf everything we're going to see? That would be disappointing imho...
It looks quite OK - far better than any other HTC device imho - but afaik its specs are nothing to write home about...
The device looks smart like a white iPod. Customized interface with touch sensitive menu. Better than the one of this samsung i710 below... ;)

By the way, HTC Elf is shorter than i710/i320/i600 and has WiFi ;)

well it is very thin, which is nice. And also cheap!!

chlettn, last summer HTC introduced MTeoR and TyTN on a press conference, but you are right, usually their new handset just pops up somewhere ready to buy.
sebset and chilko, thanks for the pictures! It's even smaller than I thought. It looks a little funny on the pictures, but I can imagine it will look a lot better when you see it in real life. As said, it looks like the device has no more hardware features than the 1-2 years old Prophet (Qtek S200), but when you come to think about it, it's pretty much the same feature set as the iPhone - EDGE and WiFi, but no 3G or GPS.
Looking forward to see the GUI on it - perhaps it can even be ported to other WM6 devices :D
Is the Elf the only model we are going to see? I kinda expect the Kaiser to be announced too, if it is to be released in late July, but again, that will maybe take away the focus from the Elf so maybe they just do as they usually do and just ship it without any major announcement.
sebset
You got Kaiser ? If so then plz post pictures ;)
Interesting, though imho it doesn't look as good as the Iphone!

I hear that HTC have been developing a multi-touch based UI for a while now. Can anybody back this up? and I might be reaching abit here but does anybody think the new HTC (pictured above) looks kind of xbox360ish?
This device is something nice. Especially on software it will have some nice new features. Cannot say more about it, but for HTC it is suprising nice.
Kaiser is ok when you use it. Just a normal device with a different display system that flips. It works ok, but is still a normal HTC device. The new ELF phone is much more special.

Compared to Iphone?
According to Smartphone Thoughts (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,14609) the Elf will have a multi-touch screen...
Anyone care to elaborate... Maybe just a wink will do? ;)
The thing has WiFi ;)

sebset, not much of a surprise, is it? :P
It's basically a HTC Prophet in a smaller shell. The question is if it has multi-touch and/or some special software on it...
Now official

Looks lovely - especially the yellow version on the 'Touch' site - but a 2 mpix camera - bit lame for such an otherwise featured phone?
