Does any Sony Ericsson phone employ 3D/stereo sound through its speakers? I'm not talking about the W550i, but something from the later lineup, like perhaps the W880i or the W660i, or even the K800i.
Demon Knight, hmm no.... none of them. they are single louder speakers... not so great ones either.

Thanks, Jo. I thought so. I've no idea what's holding them back from using 3D/stereo speakers. Ringtones/music sound so different on dual stereo speakers. I'm looking to buy a new handset, hopefully an SE, but I just love the playback on phones enabled with stereo speakers like the Nokia 6233 and the Nokia N73.

You can buy the portable mini-speakers. They are small and sound great (I have a pair myself) :D

Thanks, SonyLover, but I don't think it would be feasible to carry speakers around, attached to my phone, wherever I go. It's not just music playback that matters; it's also the ringtones that sound much more beautiful when played through inbuilt stereo speakers.
Stop the misconception thing about "3D Stereo Speakers". :p The better term is Stereo Speakers with 3D Ringtone feature.
The "3D" thing does not apply to the speakers. It is the post processing done to the sound (in N73's case it applies to ring tones and not mp3/mp4/etc) that will add 3D effect to the sound. It is only virtual effect thing, so not really 3D. A real 3D/Surround audio needs at least 4 speakers - Front Left Channel/Front Right Channel/Rear Left Channel/Rear Right Channel.

Thanks, guys, for brushing me up on that. I hadn't had a lot of information on 3D sound in relation to mobile phones. It's just that I heard a 6233 playing ringtones, and it sounded nice to me. I would agree, though, that it's not much of a necessity if music cannot be played through 3D speakers. I'm planning on the K790i anyways. I've seen that phone, played around with it a bit, and I really like it.

SuccessCre8or, nope. N73 3D effects are noticeable. Try yourself before post.
