I just bought 2 HTC Trinity P3600s and have the 1.15.405.5 ROM
I'm having the same issues with both phones.
First of all whenever I select Contacts it is slow to come up, then when you select "Menu/View By: Company the phone locks up and you have to soft reset to get it back.
We both have about 1,600 contacts and that may seem a bit large, however we previously used an i-Mate PDA2K and an i-Mate JAM, with all of the same data and neither of these had any problems with any Contacts features at all.
The Keypad is also a lot slower than our old phones too.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
