It comes with a 128mb card, ear phones and a nice leather case for the phone
Havent played with it yet but i will try to answer as many questions as you ask
Maybe i will answer them tomorrow since it dont know what time i will be back home

Yeah post pictures....how good is the camera?
I agree, 6300 will be imho the most successful S40 in 2007. 6300 is pretty small, thin and construction is well aranged. After 6310(i) we have second "outdoor" phone, which could survive everything! ;)

Hi
Does the 6300 have a 3.5mm headphone jack?
Cheers

The Q, 2,5 mm.
Does the 6300 have a 3.5mm headphone jack?
No, just a 2.5mm one...
So is there a conversion out there for normal headphones?
The Q, sure - 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptors should be available at just about any electronic shop, and dirt cheap as well ;)
for example:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-7097694-3819269?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=adaptor+headphone+3.5mm&Go.x=0&Go.y=0
Thank you
I really want this phone now lol
Not seeing any availability or prices for the UK yet, so it's tough to really give an impression of this device when your unsure as to what bracket it's in or what phones it's up against.

Believe me i still havent played with it.. I was at work all day today so i only used the basic functions.. Display is very good, so is audio quality. The battery seems to be holding great too. It feels nice in the hand and when compared to my dad's E50, its looks more elegant. My dad already askmed to order one for him to replace the E50 with the text that you need a microscope to read. By the way the 6300 has 3 font sizes (small, normal, large)
Where in the Universe is 2.5mm a standard?
Purx, who said that 2.5mm IS a standard?

Ok, so you find it very logic to put in a 2.5mm output when 99.9% of all headphones uses 3.5mm? To me it's just stupid. Very.
Now people will get adapters that breaks the outputjack.
tell that to every each manufacturer.
I remember when ALL headphones were 6.3mm, It's just the natural drive towards miniturisation that dictates 2.5 as opposed to 3.5.
mweb6161, I know it's not shipped from the UK,but you get a rough idea http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-c/section-electronics/pid-1004628655/

Show me some good 2.5mm headphones please. I don't know a single one except for the ones Nokia sells.. And they suck bigtime.
If they can put a huge Pop-port in it they can fit a 3.5mm. No problem. And why doing some with 2.5mm and some with 3.5? Confusion at Nokia R&D?

every single manufacturer have a standard port, to make use of their accesories, you can't charge or use like USB with a 3.5mm jack. and by the time they used pop port they was no use to a 3.5 mm one for phones without a mp3 player. and nokia have managed to produce more phone than any manufacturer with a 3.5mm jack.
I don't know why they don't just put 3.5mm in each of their new phones, but I still think 2.5mm is a massive improvement over any proprietary jack...

There are no 2.5mm headphones worth knowing on the market so it will in the end be as useless as the pop-port. You need equipment AGAIN to use your 3.5mm. Really stupid Nokia.

keypad is firm and feels very good. Not anything special but nothing wrong about it either. I like it
The loudespeaker is very clear and the audio quality is one of the best i have had on a cell phone. And yea im one of those guys that changes his cell every month.. Top quality audio. Radio also is very responsive and it could find more stations than any other phone with radio i had

Every MP3 player in the world uses 3.5mm. If not, show me that one.
99.9% of all headphones or in-ear are 3.5mm. If you find 2.5mm, then again, show me.
What headphones are you gonna use with this year 2007 Nokia MP3 player? If it would have had 3.5, then ALOT. Now, nothing. Unless you again are buying.....an adapter. Great huh?
Really, how can you defend 2.5mm?? You call me a fanboy of Apple? Come on..
Purx, MY fake nano bya company called Y+Z had a 2.5 mm adapter ;) WIth headphones.. just smaller

why are you comparing phones to MP3 players!, two different areas, nokia music phones come with 3.5mm adapter, using a 2.5mm its just to make the phone smaller!, that its no big secret, right now you are practically telling that you think all nokia phones should have a 3.5mm jack!, one day probably all their music phones will, but 2.5mm in a thin + and adapter inbox works, its hard to change a whole platform, ask motorola they have years trying to do it.
Does the 6300 also take video at VGA quality like the 6233?
No, only the old QCIF...
Among S40 handsets, only the newer 3G capable ones can also record in VGA (6280, 6288, 6233, 7390 as far as I'm aware of)
It looks very nice, waiting for it to become available in finland.

i cant change the standby font color on mine.... do you have this problem?... just got it this afternoon, and already freeze once....
3GPP2 (mp4-video, aac-audio)
video-250kbps, 24fps, QVGA (240x320)
audio-64kbps, 44100, mono
screen is really great (color, contrast and etc), but a bit small for my taste............
PURX
plain and simple... if you buy phones with 2.5mm jack, then you MUST buy CHEAP adapter for standard headphones... if you're not willing to buy the adapter, then dont buy phones with 2.5mm jack...:D

You can change the standby colour. Just because when you return back to the menu its back to black, it doesnt mean its black. Try a colour you want and enable the date function and you will see it under the battery/singnal bars.

i tried it... so its only the date font color now is changeable?
i also have problems with themes... some animated themes wont work properly (just like 5300)...
whats your FW? mine is 4.20/ 05-12-06/ RM-217

Phone is charging now i'll let you know later
Are you sure animated themes work for Nokias? I thought they were for SEs. Anyway i think i downloaded a theme with an animated wallpaper and the only time i checked it, it worked fine.
My only problems are :
1. I cant find the right video settings when converting a video to be played on the 6300. When the video is good, the audio is lagging. When the audio is not lagging the picture sucks. Cant Nokias play high quality videos like SEs? The W810i played very high quality videos.
2. Although my internet settings work ok, when i download an RSS feed app and try to use some feeds i get an "Error in HTTP operation".
What do you think?
AntonisCy, yes s40 3rd edition can have animated wallpaper except its abit sluggish. even samsung had it long time ago before SE.
AntonisCy

Yea i remember , Samsung's was like a 4 frame gif. SEs was way better.

Just got the phone yesterday. Didn't notice it before but do now, when moving the phone say up to my ear it sounds like something is loose inside the top end of the phone?
If I shake the unit lightly there is definitely something moving around. However, when getting a msg or call with vibrate on, no sound comes out. Is this happening on anyone elses unit?
milanista

Ah, just tried holding the very small power key at the top and then giving the unit a shake and the sound is gone. It seems like the very tiny button there is not firmly in place and is just loose enough to make a sound.
The exterior buttons are definitely a complaint on this phone, with the top power button being loose and the side volume buttons are extremely difficult to press. They are practically inside the phone and need to use a fingernail just to push them, quite annoying.
what playlist format does 6300 recognize? im used to create playlist on computer coz its much easier for me, but when i tried M3U, i cant find it in playlist folder.

I mistook it for a slidephone the first time I saw it ;)
Never the less, I like the design very much.

I (now) know he wrote about it. But when I saw the phone for the first time, his review wasn't on the internet yet.
Anyway, it's a clever idea from Nokia to make it look like a slider. ;) It certainly caught my interest.

I don't know about UK's 3 (I guess?) - but in Austria, you'd get problems with a 3 SIM in the 6300, as the 6300 is GSM only, and 3 only has a 3G/UMTS network, because 3 deactivated GSM roaming in places they already cover...
Can a Nokia 6300 owner please upload the Noir theme for me:) ?
If there are other nice themes on the phone you can also add them.

i have one very important question.....
how many msgs i can save in inbox and folders??

please i need very urgent answer...

Really nice looking phone this one. I've thought of buying a new phone and I'm actually struggling between E50 and 6300. It might sound odd but they're both in the same price range (about 250 euros in Finland) and they have quite similar features as well (excluding the fact that E50 is a smart phone and 6300 isn't). Both phones are also quite slim (6300 especially). Now I'm basically in the situation where I have to deside wheter I want my phone-to-be to have a radio or not.
I would appreciate if someone who has 6300 told me if the radio is any good in that phone. I would also like to know how is the sound of the speaker phone in 6300 while the phone is on a table because the speaker is placed in the back of the phone.

No, I've tried and it doesn't work. Pressing the power button will bring it out of standby and light the screen up tho.
Hi, I have purchased a new Nokia 6300. Nice phone (looks and usage) but cuts out after speaking for around 30 seconds. Has anyone had the same problem or know a solution, other than taking it back :-). After ir has cut out it work fine again, no need to power off or anything else.
Any suggestions?

i wish there will be 6300 ME with all black and 3.5mm jack. :D
Does any one have issues with this phone cutting out during calls. It happens with mine, but I'm not sure if it is a Thai network issue.

Hi, I just got my 6300 today and think it is a great phone. I upgarded from a 6230i and had a couple of handsfree kits installed in my cars. Does anyone know if I can get some adaptor. My girlfriend still has a 6230i so I cant change the car kit. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi,
I am considering this phone, but the only thing putting me off is that there is no Pop Port cradle for the handset other than the universal non charging cr-39.
Does anyone know if there is likely to be a pop port cradle for this phone in the near future?
Considering its supposed to be a replacement for the 6100 (which I love) its not as versitile. I am currently using a 6230i with a CK-7W. I hope someone knows differently.

Hi
can I use N73 memorycard on 6300 ??
can I use N73 memorycard on 6300 ??
N73 uses miniSD cards and 6300 uses microSD cards. MiniSD cards are physically bigger than microSD's so if you already have a miniSD card, you unfortuately can't use it on 6300. However you can buy a microSD card that comes along with the adaptor to make it same size as miniSD.
I read a (norwegian) review of this phone, and it was mentioned that the menus were a bit slow when going from one menu to a sub menu. I can't really understand this, as the S40 v3 phones I've tried have been snappy. Would you guys say the 6300 is slower than for example the 6233? I hope not. :-/

Degu, can you post a link of that review? of cuz i will see that menu in two weeks, but still want to read it right know:)
By the way, can anybody write here the prices of this s40 model in Europe market? Most interesting of German,French,Switzerland,Austrian markets, thanks;
Here you go (http://www.dinside.no/php/art.php?id=373660)! I hope you can read Norwegian. :p
They stated that it really wasn't that noticeable, but I've always felt that S40 was really snappy, so I don't understand why they would mention it if it wasn't at least a bit of a problem. Maybe I'm just overreacting, heh.
Edit: I just read another review now, where they stated that the phone was snappy except for viewing images in the album. For those who are interested you can find it on Amobil.no.
Looks like I'll be getting a 6300 then! :D

this is by the way my first Nokia ever.... used to have Sony Ericsson.
the only downside with this phone is that the SMS language is only in English and Thai (because I live in Thailand).. is it possible to install french T9?
So far I like the phone but the Battery life sucks!

It keeps on storing messages until the memory is full... and it's impossible to say how many that'll be since messages can be all different sizes.

Would anybody be able to tell me if the option is still there to switch to the 'old, classic' Nokia Series 40 menu style. The one where you have a screen for each option, and press up or down to scroll through them.
The 6230i had it, so I assume this one does too. I'm not a fan of the grid menu that's on by default.

can the messages be stored on the memory card ??

If the 6300 works the same as the 6233, no, you can't store the messages on the memory card. On my 6233, around 1200 text messages took up about 1mb of memory.
i really really want to get this phone. hopefully it will come in gsm 850 band soon!
is there anyway to copy all the files form N73 memorycard to 6300 memory
thanks

That's right. The available main menu views are:
- List
- Grid
- Grid with labels
- Tab

After sending this phone back to Nokia, it has come back as all OK. The problem was the sim card. After changing the sim the phone is fine and has been working well, no other problems. This is a great phone :)

If by the D pad you mean the silver ring under the screen, mine works fine and feels the same in all directions. Must be your phone.
Hi Guys, got my 6300 a few days ago. I've got loads of video files in h.264, and none of them will play (other than audio & a blank screen) on the phone. Has anyone managed to get their phone playing back movie files of any decent quality- if so, what video format & settings have you used, & which converter? I was hoping to use mine as a kind of video ipod- you know, couple of music vids & some comedy to while away a boring train journey....is this possible?
Cheers to anyone who can help!

just popped into my nearest nokia repair centre (carphone warehouse) and asked about the loose power button; the guy I spoke to knew about the problem and told me there was nothing they could do about it at the moment and its just a design flaw and to give it a few months and see what happens, maybe nokia will provide some sort of fix.

I have a memory card reader if that helps?
Thnx Victor.

I got my 6300 yesterday, and i like it, its really nice! I had only use SE phones before, but i thought "Nokia is the biggest brand in the world for a reason" so i bought it.
Just search on google after "6300 themes" or "s40 themes" (Nokia 6280 games and themes also works on 6300).
When you have them in your computer, just take a cable and connect the phone, put the themes (which is .nth files) and put them in the 'themes'-folder.
thats how i did.. :)

@ robee and McMaster...
I can confirm this is a Firmware Bug on the phone - you cannot change the colour of the Font used for the Softkey text and menu text on the Standby Screen.
It means we are back to the situation where light coloured wallpapers mean it is impossible to read the menu text.
All that does get changed is the colour of the font used in the TEXT of the active standby information, if this is turned on.
I have reported this to Club Nokia Careline UK.
I would urge all UK owners of a 6300 to ring up and do the same, expressing their displeasure - the UK number is 0870 600 6012.
For users in other countries, I urge you to do the same for your own local Club Nokia Careline number.
also can not restore data (calendar...) to 6300!!
say data is copied, BUT in fon nothing :(
6300 disapoint me!! I back to 6233....

Hi,
Has anyone had a problem with their ear speaker on the 6300?
My boyfriend has a 6300 and so do I. Got them on an upgrade two days ago, they look great but when we receive calls the caller breaks up every now and then, -distorded sound and it cuts small bits of the conversation, (as if your in a bad reception area but we aren't-we've had full reception) I have tried turning down the speaker earpiece volume but doesnt make much difference .
When I was on a call today the line just dropped off for no reason.
Use to have the Nokia 6230i, but didnt have these problems!

Ellie,
In the Settings Menu > Call Settings > Voice Clarity, see if it is ON - if so, try turning it OFF. I found that his 'clever' new little feature doesn't always get it quite right, and led to the symptoms you describe.
So see if disabling it helps.
Conversely, if it is NOT on, try turning it on, and see if that improves things - see which is best for you...
Any news with the rattle on the power button? Any official solution?
Thanks for the advice, I had tried it but it made no difference.
I went back to the shop in the end and changed the phone for another 6300.
Its fine now :D just has a slight very high pitch whistle as its dialling someone!
Still I can cope with that so long as I can hear who im talking too
Have had Nokia 6300 for a couple of weeks now. Everything works great. The only thing that is bothering me is when I am making a call, the ringing tone in the earphone makes a buzzy ring. When I'm dialing home phone numbers it has a clear ring sound, but when dialing mobile numbers it is not a clear ring. I'm talking about the ringing in your earphone that you hear while waiting for someone to answer on the other end. I have tried activating voice clarity and that makes no difference. Anyone else have a solution to this. I am living in Greece and Vodafone.
Ellie,
On the phone that you returned with the ear speaker problem, did you notice if when you made a call the ring sound coming from the ear speaker was clear or made a buzz like ring? I find that when I make calls to a home phone the ring while waiting for someone to answer is clear. But when making calls to mobile numbers the ring sound is distorted. How does your new phone sound when it is ringing when you call someone?

I have to agree. I got the Nokia 6300 today, when i ring, the speaker is somewhat very low, compared to a Sony Ericsson. The sound from the other person on the line sounds really different. Could this be due to the phone only using mono speakers or something? Has anyone else had these issues?
I've just ordered a 6300 as my 2nd/backup phone :)
The major drawback is no 3G but the phone meets all my other criteria that I require. Can't wait for it to arrive!!!
I've had this phone for a few days now and it's absolutely brilliant! It's one of the best phones I've ever used as it has everything that I require. All I wanted was a sleek small mobile and Nokia have produced! The lack of 3G is a shame but I've noticed no serious drop in performance when using Opera Mini. The screen is big, bright and colourful and the speaker is very loud and crisp. The keys are perfect and the s40 interface is one of the elements that helps Nokia stand out from the rest as it's so simplistic yet so functional.
A truly excellent phone! :)
one of best think is i used my usb cable my 40gb external harddrives usb cable to conenct 6300 to pc :)))))))))))

I have been looking for over a year for what i would describe as a "classic Nokia". for the past 4 and a half years ive had, and still have a 6310i.before that i had a 5110 and siemiens sl45i. i like a phone to last.i love the 6310i, but the keypad is starting to give up and i think im due an upgrade. i was looking but could find nothing except those disposable phones out now days. finally, last friday i found the 6300. it was the first day vodafone had it out and i got it! i got it because:
its slim, which is exactly what i was looking for.
its sturdy. no creaking or crackling from the case or those express on covers when its in your pocket.
its a phone. its not a camera, or a web device, but a phone. sure it has a rubbish camera and a browser, but its a good phone and thats what i wanted.
The buttons feel very responsive to use, but not stiff.the os is very quick, better than some other phones i have used. the speaker for ringtones/loudspeaker is ok, im sure it could be better, but it does the job perfectly for me. ringtones are bright and crisp.
The screen is beautiful, bright, contrasty and easy on the eyes.
I had no trouble taking a copy of all the data on my 6310i via bluetooth and copying it all onto the 6300. this is one thing i was dreading, but i managed it in about 2 minutes!
Sound quality during calls is good, its a bit more to the trebble side of things compared to my old phone, but its not bad.
I have customised the softkeys so that i rarely have to go searching for anything, which makes it an absolute dream to use. its so easy!
one complaint is during texting, if you want to move left or right using the directional button, its very easy to press it, thus sending a message, that more often than not is not finished.
The alarm is not as loud as i would like, but it is sufficient.
I have not had the phone long enough to test the battery, but its first charge on friday evening lasted 2 days, and that was with intensive use ( messing and learning to use it).
This is one of the few phones out today that i feel has the durability, useability and lastability ( if thats a word) of my old 6310i, however until im sure, il be keeping my 6310i on standby with a full charge ( im pesimistic!). im not someone who upgrades every 6 months, and like a phone to last. all in all i can recommend this phone to anyone who wants a phone.
This may be a bit late but check out the Palm 2in 1 headset at the palmstore it works very well with the 6300
and is a 2.5 jack.
Hello Winston_Smith,
Welcome to the forums!
Great mini-review on the 6300, by the way. Regarding your complaint on the accidental SMS sending, it also happens occasionally with my 6233 when i type fast, and it might interest you to know that there is a split second or so time-gap where you can "cancel" an SMS sent by pressing the right soft key while the phone is still starting to send. As soon as you accidentally press the selection (send) key, try to press the right soft key immediately and it should cancel the send. This action should give you an "SMS sending cancelled" message if done correctly. I assume this would also be applicable to your phone since we both use Series40 v3. Hope this helps. =)

Just got me this phone and I'm very pleased with it. Couple of things though:
Is it possible to change how the phone vibrates? I'm used to longer periods of vibration from my Samsung and I prefered that.
Is it possible to flash a different software on to get rid of my T-Mobile branding on start-up?
Just waiting for my USB cable to turn up so I can play around with themes etc...

hi guys , I have been following this site for a long time and recently i bought a nokia 6300 .... which leaves me absolutely disgusted because of it's pathetic battery backup
previously i was using s.e k750i and coming from that its such a disappointment , what i got in the trade off is just a better looking phone and a good screen
now that i am stuck with it can anyone suggest some way to increase the battery performance , i am ok with changing to a higher capacity battery if it is available as the current one wont even give me an hour of talktime ( with around 10 texts )
after all what a " MOBILE " phone is without a good battery :-(
Sounds like you have a duff battery. Get it changed.

I got it checked from the nokia dealer yesterday , he says battery is ok its just the screen which takes all the juice out of it .......... and i had to charge twice today to make it last a whole day
5 hours of charging NOKIA ( this is really getting to me now should i change the phone to s.e again )
plz help !!
Either the phone is faulty or the battery - before replacing the phone replace the battery it should give at least 2 days battery life with about an hour a day of talking and texting
Cheers
Even if the battery is totally flat it doesn't take 5 hours to charge. As we have repeatedly told you, your battery is clearly faulty is there is a small chance the handset is at fault. Your Nokia dealer is talking out his arse.

anyways i have got hold of another 6300 battery , it belongs to one of my friend and that fone is exactly 2 days old with the same problem I am facing .... will post the performance by evening
if it doesnt help this might be my last nokia
Where is the brightness control option?? I searched it in settings but coudn't find it.

hi! i'm new here :) i was searching the web for the problems occuring in nokia 6300 and i found this...
anyway, i just got my phone (N6300) 2 days ago and i just noticed that when the ringing volume is set in maximum, the sound coming out from the phone whenever someone texts or calls me is weird. it starts off low and suddenly turns into loud... the incoming call alert is set as ringing. so why is this???
i've read something about this in another forum and they said that it's normal, and that the latest nokia phones have the same function because that's the way they were designed. just wondering if this is true, if not, i'll go back to my dealer and have it changed for a new one.... :insane:
thanks
michaelr
07-06-2007, 11:03
Yes that's the way it is designed. The speculated reason for that is, if your phone is nearly your ear, the tone starts off a bit lower so that you can move away from the phone, and thus minimise the posibility of damaging your hearing. The phone could also give you quite a fright if it suddently starting playing a ringtone at full volume. This wouldn't be much good if you were driving a car, an ended up swerving and crashing because the phone gave you a shock.
scream_analyzer
07-06-2007, 11:05
no it is the same with all new nokias , i am afraid your dealer cant do nothing with this
makes me wonder why would nokia do this if some one wants his fone on full ringing then why are the unable to do so

yup that could be one of the reasons but if you do not want that to happen then one can change the ringing type to ascending ....
but this makes ppl miss some important calls also because when u r away from your phone this solution doesnt always work

The only problem with this system is that with text message tones being relatively short, they rarely reach full volume. It's fine for calls though since your phone will ring for longer than 5 seconds.

Where is the brightness control option?? I searched it in settings but coudn't find it.
you cant find it because it is not there .... another bummer from nokia
if they knw battery is sad they shld have given brightness control option , and for me the brightness of the screen is bit too much colors look artificially made up and in dark its not easy on the eye also ( but this is only my personal observation different ppl might have diff views )

I miss being able to 'write' the person's name you are sending a text to, instead of finding his/her number and all that.
In 6233 latest software text msg tome is much louder now so maybe on later updates it will be too

Im absolutely thrilled with my phone. To be quite honest, the battery thing disapoints me a little bit. I have a SE k300 also, and it played like 10 songs and the battery droped like half charge. When i charge my nokia it appears te battery fully charge, and when i disconect it (when i charge it off) the battery icon looks only 1/4 full. then i turn on my phone and is fully charge. Yesterday i charged all night from 10pm to 10am, i made 4 phone calls of 2 or 3 minutes tops and played all day minigolf, and the battery drop till 1/3 of its charge. I know that i has a huge 16m colors screen. When i don't use the phone with music or games, it last more than 2 days. But when i play music for a lot of hours, it runs off.
Is it normal?
Im a newbie.. so help.. thanks. ;D
how much would the mini usb cost? in philippine peso?..
how come my back cover lid doesn't reach till the edge??.. i mean near the black surface near the cam. It;s kind of longer than the phone. I think it's up to the fullest now. but in the pictures it fits right exactly along the white lighting on the sides.

i got this phone last thursday and am thrilled by it, a big improvement over my nokia 6230!
but i haven't been able to get any internet/wap on this phone, whenever it tries anything with the internet (opera mini, contact support etc.) it gets the error message 'Packet data connection not available'.
it used to say that there were no provider settings but then i downloaded the settings from nokia.com and now i only get the packet data error message, any help would be much appreciated.

I'm facing exactly the same problem:( Did you or anyone else find a solution? Has anyone else this problem, or it is only me and kospar?

You have to push the bottom upwards a little hard until you hear it click in to place.

soiramk, maybe it has something to do with greece. I am using Vodafone, and think it might have something to do with them. A couple of times when i made calls to mobile numbers around 5:00 in the morning, it did not make the buzzing sound. It's almost as if the signal is not clear at first and then it just fixes by itself.
I am using Vodafone too! I can't explain it.. Sometimes (very, very few) the signal it's absolutely clear!

Hi,
I love this phone; but, I am trying to use it in USA. Everything is working except Multimessaging and sending pictures. Tmobile gave me all the pins and settings as well as this service to activate settings from Nokia and it still won't work....ANY IDEAS? I want to keep the phone; but, i don't want to lose a function like this. THanks so much...Desperate in Chicago

Hi there !
I need some help with the following.
(1) Transfering contacts and sms from 6310i to 6300.
(2) Is it possible to store SMSs on the 6300 memory card for direct access like one would access numbers from the sim card. if not, is there a way to store the SMSs on the memory card.
Thank you very much.

Hy,
I have the same problem with my 6300. I don't know why, but this is not right. So I went to Orange to fix the problem. I had to hand over the phone for about 9 days and finally today I got it back. Surprinsingly(or not) they said that it's no problem with the sound, but however they had a software update (v04.71 28.02.2007 rm-217). They also gave me a Measurement Report ( Rohde&Schwarz gear) and the result is that all 38 tests were passed/ o tests failed. I am really desappointed of Nokia and Orange. I can't imagine what the solution is? Do you?

Hi there,
Just got my nokia 6300, how do I get it to ring and vibrate at the same time on an incoming call.
I'm probably being a bit dumb here, but I've got used to the samsung menu structure.
Cheers,
Dave
Just got the 6300, love the phone, especally the huge screen. There are some bugs or design flaws that I want to point out that im not to happy about.
1. Camera - in normal mode in low light there are lines going across the screen and pictures are poor and grainy. I have found using night mode to fix this a little. The pictures taken by my old 6230i seem better and sharper in some situations.
2. Reading sms messages - when the message is long, I scroll down, and insted of going to a 'new' page (showing the NEXT 10 (or so) lines of text), it incorporates some text from the previous page which makes it very confusing to see where your upto reading that message. There is no setting to change this (i don't think?)
3. Using inbuilt web browser when going to a large website I have so far had one 'out of memory' error and one complete reboot of the phone (phone crashed?)
4. User guide is very brief when explaining the 'tone settings' section in the phone, and in some other sections they give brief obvious explainations too. A new nokia user may not fully understand the tone settings. Also it does not explain how the reminder lights work??
5. The tone settings from the settings menu is different than the tone settings from the profile > personalise menu; this menu has a 'light alert' setting which there is no explanation for in the menu or user guide. I have to assume it is refering to the reminder lights or the screen backlight becoming in sync with the ringtone/vibration?
Overall the 6300 is the worst refined phone I have ever used. Don't get me wrong, its not bad, but most other phones I have used have only had 1 or 2 minor things go wrong (if at all). This phone would be almost perfect if not for the above.
I will be upgrading once another similar/suitable phone comes out.
I've owned 6300 as a secondary phone two days ago & didn't impressed with it's battery life & sold it next day ,6233 is better though !

I am from Turkey and i have the exact same problem.i think it is a bug.

use the supplied software. it makes it a breeze. just backup the info from your old phone, and restore it onto your new phone!

Update the firmware.
bit late but check out the Palm 2in 1 headset at the palmstore it works very well with the 6300
and is a 2.5 jack
well, I've got palm 2in1 pro headset, which is great per se, but how is the quality of the audio output ?
because I've got E62 as well. but E62 has got terrible audio output ...
so that is actually my question, is the audio output of the 6300 good enough ? it is loud enough ? how about bass and trebles ?
I also have the 6300 and although I am generally happy with it I have the same ringing issues as Kospar and co and I am also with Vodafone (UK).
I would like to update the firmware to see if there is any improvement, can someone please advise the easiest way to do this?
Many thanks.

Yeah, install Opera Mini fromt he phones built-in browser & make sure your phone has your operator settings installed and that the profile is selected.
You can get the settings sent to your phone from here:

Looking at the two new colour variants I found myself in an illusion of looking at Nokia 3230's silver/scarlet-red colour variant instead of the 6300… lol hehe, I guess the silver/scarlet-red looks some kinda dated, but the ice-white/silver version certainly can be crowd pleaser indeed. (Wish it would have had a decent battery performance just as good as 6233's battery).

just got mine 4 days ago. i was a SE fan well until now, but this phone is cool. just bought a 2GB micro sd and now i use it as an mp3 player. the music cannot compare to my previous SE W610i but i know it will sound better if i buy a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack and a Philips Bass headphones...initially got a prob with the battery. but i drained it 2x and charged it for the whole night or equivalent to 12 hours. now, the battery lasts 2-3days with music player and watching mp4 music vids.. i highly recomend this phone to anyoe..if you have questions..i'll be more than happy to answer those
morphine, I'm not the greatest expert on tech but what video editing software can I use in converting videos on my PC so I can watch them on 6300? Gracias.

I know I should have written this about a year ago, but I'd never seen this forum before, and I really hope someone might be able to help me. Everything is great with my 6300, no complaints. Bar one. I cannot email the photos I take on the camera. I've lost count of the number of times I've trawled through the menus but with no joy. Can <anyone> talk me through it? I never had any probs atall with its predecessor....
Many many thanks
Just got my 6300 after i got rid of N95 8GB, man i have to say this phone is gorgeous and feels so expensive. It makes N95 8GB so cheap when holding 6300.
I just got the regular silver one, i may buy black front and black battery cover to make it all black! :)
i have updated from 5.5 to v6.01, it solves problem like transfering big files via bluetooth.

this red color of the 6300 is just GREAT!
great to look at, great to touch ! WOW! I was amazed really to see that great build-quality...! it makes me wanna get one just for the great design...:)
hope nokia make Nseries devices build quality like this one, or atleast near it ..:(
Peace :)
We recently bought this phone for my brother for his birthday and he loves it. Unfortunately he's accidentally managed to scratch the battery cover quite badly, and he would like a replacement. However as he has the brown version (Carphone Warehouse exclusive I believe) I'm finding very difficult to find replacement battery covers on the usual place - eBay. If anyone knows where I can get one, that'd be great.
