View Full Version : Eldar, can you tell us some more about the SX2?
"And developers remembered Motorola v70, similar phones with similar rotating mechanism have not been produced yet (we do not take into account one of the Asian clones which was almost unavailable to usual user). Postponed launching of Siemens SX1 and as a result SX2 (the same opening principle) allows Motorola to introduce own solution equipped with rotator mechanism."
Eldar, do you by chance have some more info or specs for this phone or aren't you allowed to give us that yet?

f liitle hint SX1 it is Nokia 3650 with improved MMC card slot and better screen as in Nokia 3660
SX2 is a Nokia 6600 with better screen and more memory (16 Mb)
 So the SX2 doesnt sound like something really innovative. I think we can fantasize a lil more now, especially about the rotating mechanism in the design. Thanks for the info Eldar, I really appreciate it.
When are we going to expect the SX1 review eldar?
The SX1 seems to be proven 'okay' now... no fatal software errors anymore. And already now hitting the shop stocks.

That's not entirely true. Go over at Club Siemens and you'll see that it still has a lot of errors. There is no final firmware out yet, only an English/German one.
But the main problem which the SX1 had... (I will not speak in technology) is solved... so only firmware upgrade is needed which is also needed for a lot of new phones!
And stil delay to 2005 :d
Draak
What still delay?
Gp to your nearest Belcompany and you can buy the SX1!
It was a joke.
But,theire is no SX1 nearest belcompany,nothing in R.mond.
LOL... well as far as I know almost every Belcompany has at least one. I went to some here in Amsterdam and they were almost all sold out.
But I will not buy it now, cause I will not pay that amount of money on a not bugfree phone. It will take some time till Siemens will come with the final firmware. I'll wait on the Sendo X and then decide then.
I think that i know better than you Nils, becouse i was there.
Did you asked for it?
You said you have to work till 18:00 hours... the shops are closed when you get your spare time!
How do you manage to drop by than?
Dit gaat echt nergens over. :D
Ik had hem op me MSN totdat ie me blokte :D
[On topic mode]
Siemens almost wanted to drop the SX1 and go for the SX2 due to the problems the SX1 first had luckily they managed to overcome these problems and it is very good smartphone which I prefer above the 6600 and 'X'.
[/On topic mode]
Ok, well I hope they will do things differently with the SX2. They now have the experience with Symbian so it shouldn't be such a big problem as it was with the SX1. I wonder how good looking it will be.

SX1 has the same platform and software as 3650 has...
inside of phone it is the same soft, including even Nokia folder
So,the SX1 is 75% a Nokia :D
Then I really don't understand why they had so many problems with the phone. They could've just bought a 3650 and see how Nokia did it. ;) (LOL, if it would be that easy!! :D)
But they didn't even change for instance that folder name in the most recent firmware? Or are they obliged to have that folder in their phone?

Hmm, just a side-note: Could we please stick to english here?
Pretty annyoing when you started to speak dutch there... Even though I don't know the language the least, I still try to understand, and because of that, I waste alot of my precious brain-power... :insane: :D
It wasn't really that crucial information :D.
EldarMurtazin
The 'X' has that 2... but they said they are going to fix that in the final production version.
I also saw a Sendo X with a translucent cover... are the covers exchangeble that you know or do they come in different covers?

they can produce sx2 under licensed of SonyEricsson ;)
EldarMurtazin
I thought the failure of the error was something of software communication between the phone and it's modem that failed that's why they stopped working after some minutes they've been switched 'on'.
saliquincer..........................nice idea :D

And loose the advantage of the huge amount of applications already developed for Series 60 platform.

Yep, my comment was to Saliquincer who suggested Siemens to use some Ericsson platform instead of Series 60.
But SE is using Series 60, just with UIQ that's all.
No SE have no licentie from Nokia, never.
P900 runs on Symbian and so did the P800.
SE have licentie from Ericsson not Nokia .
Well if the phone will be like the 6600 with the "looks" of the Motorola R880 you just reviewed Eldar, than this could be something really nice!! (Without bugs of course. ;))

SE is one of the brands that has a stake in Nokia's Symbian.

No.
We know that Siemens has licensed the Series 60 from Nokia, but in depth the SX1 software works different (and this is the problem, not the 'unskilled team'). The hardware of the SX1 is developed by Siemens, it uses chipset / processor from TI. Both phones use ARM9-processors, that is the similarity. But in the SX1 this thing runs at 130 Mhz, while it is running with 104 Mhz in the Nokias (7650, 3650, NGage, 6600). Hardwarelayout is different.

Well, I'd say they aren't really unskilled, but unexperienced with the technology.

Software platform in SX1 is the same as in 3650, ie. Series 60 version 1.2.

I know ;)
But as I said, in depth the software works a bit different, because of the other hardware-architecture the SX1 has.

What do you want to say
Eldar, I saw you had an article in the Russian news section about the SX2. I translated the text with an online translator and there came out that you stated that the pictures used there confirmed that the SX2 will have a normal keyboard, but those picture are just Photoshopped pictures done by users over at Club Siemens who made images of how they want the SX2 to look like. Or did I translate it wrongly. :D

Well ... I've just read the english version of the little article, and I can say that Eldar made a big mistake. These are really pictures made by users of club-siemens forum, done in the middle of the last year. The SX2 won't look like that. And by the way, this is not the only failure Eldar made in connection with Siemens-related news in the past several months :(
