Hello there,
a few days ago I ordered an O2 XDA phone bundled with TomTom Software & GPS Mouse. I found out it is a HTC Robbie or HTC Hurricane. I saw the article about this phone on this website:
http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/review/htc-hurricane-en.shtml
And now the confusion begins:
The Article says the phone works with MS Windows Mobile 2003 but O2 says it works with Windows Mobile 5.0!
And further I don't know if it is a HTC Robbie, HTC Hurricane or any other HTC phone...
Can anyone help? Is it possible that the HTC Hurricane was delivered with Win Mobile 2003 and now (firmware update?) it is shipped with Windows Mobile 5.0?
Greetz

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.
This is what I ordered (Hope the link isn't dead):

That is a Windows Mobile 2003 SE device - don't know why O2 told you anything else.
You can't upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 - at least not if you don't want to mess around and lose your warranty.

O2's Website means following:
Betriebssystem Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0
Integriertes Modem
E-Mail Client
128 MB Interner Speicher
Mini-SD-Karten-Einschub
Organizer

Today I received my O2 XDA Phone (HTC Hurricane) and it REALLY Runs with Windows Mobile 5.0
When I go to Info the mobile phone displays:
Microsoft (R) Windows Mobile tm Version 5.0
BS 5.1.7.0 (Build 14406.1.1.1)
I think O2 gets an extra version of the HTC Hurricane wich is not shipped out with windows mobile 2003 SE but with Windows Mobile 5.0
And now It get's some more confusing!! When I go into the System Information of the phone it displays:
CPU TI OMAP 850
Geschwindigkeit 195Mhz
...
Modellname: Tornado(DVT)
But It is definitly NOT the HTC Tornado which was tested on this website. The Phone looks exactly like the HTC Hurricane but it identifies itself as Tornado...
Really funny...
The OMAP850 CPU is the one that's used in the Tornado - I'm pretty sure the Hurricane uses the same OMAP730 CPU as the Typhoon, which also runs on WM2003SE.
It must be the Tornado in a Hurricane cover...:insane:
Does it have WiFi? If so, then it definately is the Tornado. Don't know about the cover design though. Can you take a picture of it? It sounds a little strange.

You can see a Picture of the O2 Xda here:
http://www.o2online.de/o2/business/loesungen/grossmittel/produkte/geraete/xdaphone/xdaphone-content-bild,property=OnlineBild.jpg
or:
http://www.siamphone.com/picture/o2/xdaphone/xdaphone_1.jpg
It doesn't have Wi-fi. But runs definitely Windows Mobile 5, and System Information says it is a Tornado...
:insane: <== O2
Short description of the Product (german):
http://www.o2online.de/o2/business/loesungen/grossmittel/produkte/geraete/xdaphone/
This is the Text from the System Information:
CPU: TI OMAP 850
Geschwindigkeit 195Mhz
RAM: 64MB
Flash: 64MB
Rom Version:1.0.8.0
Operator Version:1.10.56.8
LCD: 240x320 TFT
Farben: 65536
Modellname: Tornado(DVT)
IMEI: 3565360000xxxx200
Funkempf?ngerversion: 4.0.13.17_01.04.00
The Info says:
Microsoft Windows Mobile(TM) Version 5.0
BS 5.1.70 (Build 14406.1.1.1)
Funkempf?ngerversion
4.0.13.17_01.04.00
RIL-Version 2.002
ROM Update Versionen:
Operator: 5.1.70.14406
Hersteller: 5.1.70.14406
Microsoft: 5.1.70.14406
Sprache: 5.1.70.14406
Dateisystem: 5.1.70.14406
Then I guess it must be the Tornado version without WiFi module (like the Orange SPV C600) but in a HTC Hurricane cover...
