I have chosen my own custom avator from the 'Edit Avator' section but it is not shown in my posts. Can someone tell me what's wrong?? :confused:

does you avatar abide by these limits:
The maximum size of your custom image is 50 by 50 pixels or 13.7 KB

BrightSpark, i have that problem too. My avatar is not too big, it is 50x50 pixels, 8kb, when i'm uploading it in user cp, it is displayed in that window, but it doesn't displayed under my nickname in forums when i post my messages. What's a problem?

did you have to shrink the image to make it fit? one mistake that many people do is that they shrink the image rather than the canvas size. also, check that you have used a compatible format (eg gif, jpg, etc).

No, i make everything right, i use this avatar or rus version of the forum. Even when I inserted just smile [like this: :)] as an avatar, it didn't display...

you did remember to press 'save changes' didn't you? other than that, i can't think what it could be.

I have the exact same problem for a while now. My avatar has the right amount of pixels, the right size and the right format. It shows up exactly like playdead posted, but it isn't shown in the forums. And it clearly is uploaded:

hi everyone,i just found and joined ....looks pretty interesting.....in answer to your question,it looks as though your internet cache is still remembering the old avator.....go to tools then internet options then click delete files then ok.....hope this works for you ...♥♥♥

damallseye, the thing is.... there is no old avatar. Everything goes well, the picture is uploaded, it is shown at your settings, but it just doesn't show up in the topics. I've given up. :)
Yup there seems do be a problem of some sort, uploaded an avatar and it shows in my profile but not on the forums. But what is this about, tried uploading an animated gif but got the following message: "You may not upload animated images". Yet there are several posters with animated gifs as their avatars :confused:
Me again! I tried making my avator smaller but it still doesn't appear next to my posts although it is shown in the edit avator section. I also have the same message "you cannot upload animated images" that phony had when i tried to use an animated picture as my avator. :confused: Plz help.

I have the same problem too.
I am also having the same problem even if i host the image with imageshack it still doesnt show, very odd

yeah - i too would like to know what is going on ...maybe there is some problem with the forum software ? I dunno but I have same problem too . :confused:

I tryed both uploading to my pc and uploading from imageshack, something is not right.
i changed back to my animated dragon av with no problems earlier, so check your av is compatable with the settings

You remember correctly, but I've been told I cant have one before. Was just experimenting because I knew your avatar should work, but it's not theft if the attempt is unsuccesfull ;)
Any new update ? Not like myself without avatar ;)

why, whats changed? :confused:.
The forum was down for a short time this afternoon, I guess they either fixed something or upgraded. I don't remember which version of vB we were using before.
1. i cant change my avatar
2. unable to use the "Quote" button on the post's window. like when u highlight some part of the post by auser and press quote, to reply to it... its not working! anybody having this problem ?
3. went to user CP, it says i have 2 threads i've subscribed to. but i havent... :confused:

Why would you wish to change that lovely blinking envelope? anyone else unable to change Avatars? or is it just a2k24 thats afflicted with this problem!!.

same problem here.
a2k24 has been moaning about that to me for years :) , we tried various methods of solution but none seemed to work. It appears to be dependant upon which region you are from?.

I don't think it would be region dependant. It would be permission-dependant. Like mods and admins can, and us normal members can't.

You may not upload animated avatars.
Lots of junior members have animated AVs, "sweaty bottom" for example.
so that blows your theory out of the water :)

perhaps, something to do with when the av was uploaded? Sweaty probably uploaded it before the permissions were changed.
anyway, no chance of bigger avs?
I will look at AV permissions as soon as i am able :) .
It might interest you to know the TOTAL AV useage for this entire site is LESS than a SINGLE AV that i use on another forum:eek:
I have always been in favour of bigger Avs, my fellow admins however seem to take pride in limiting useage to the fullest extent.:-/
