If u need a smartphone go for 6600
If you don't , it is better for you to wait 6230 because it is much smaller than 6600 and the features are mostly same...

Buy the 6600, its great!

Nice Display, best OS (symbian series 60), camera, mp3 player, and all the other things...

or wait for the 7700 or new Commi (9xxx)

I am also struggling to see if I should get the N6600 or wait for the N6230.
It seems the N6230 has a bit more feature than the N6600 (e.g. USB port). However, the N6600 offers a bigger screen... but it seems the N6600 is very bulky....
The N6600 can play MP3?

Nope,
the N6600 can't play any MP3's.

I'm actually struggling with this decision myself.
In the end the 6230 does everything that the 6600 does except with a smaller screen.

So if the screen is the only thing that matters to you then get the 6600. If you want added features of Radio/mp3 wait for the 6230.

That's what i'm going to do :)
Screen of 6600 is great, but after 2 months i know i'm going to get very irritated with its bulky size.

Just my opinion...

yeah, if I'm not wrong 6230's size is pretty much the same as 6220/?
therefore, compared to 6600, I think one will go for 6230, since features pretty much the same (except the larger screen on 6600 - and dun forget the USB+radio on 6230)

Comparing 6230 and 6600 as featurewise is a bit funny. Yes, 6230 is very featurerich device out-of-the-box for being mobile phone. 6600 is a smartphone with Symbian OS and Series 60. That basicly means that you can add alot features afterwards with 3rd party applications. This is what you cannot do with 6230. Sure it has MIDP 2.0 which is great and big step forward from MIDP 1.0, but still it doesn't offer the same performance and functionality as native Symbian applications for 6600.

I have lasted 2 days with the 6600. It?s too big, I am swapping it today. It?s a great phone, but if you are expecting a nokia, then you will be dissapointed. It doesn?t resemble Nokia too closely

I still have the phone, but I am frustrated at the lack of GPRS etc. I met a guy in the vodafone shop today who had EXACTLY the problem as me, only he payed 900 euros for his 6600!!!!

I am going to stick with the phone for now and I have another 12 days to decide before I can?t swap any longer. I just need a definate answer from Vodafone Espana, and they won?t give one. The best answer so far is "we will support it but as for when, I don?t know. Maybe a week, maybe 6 months"

it can, but only in mono, the sound is really poor, i will personnally buy both, the 6600 to replace my 3650 and the 6230 to replace my 6100

Definitely the 6230. Save up your cash for that one. It'll be a doozy. Everyone I've showed the 6600 to doesn't like the look of it ("too bulky" is a standard comment). The 6230 also has a built in MP3 player in stereo, so go for that, IMO.
It should be available in the first quarter of 2004, according to Nokia's site (that's in Asia and Europe, etc).

If both phones have the same size dimension, I prefer N6600 instead... ;) Smartphone with Symbian OS is far much better than just 40 series phone, it is only required more download and installation jobs to make it more features rich than N6230...

I'd say the 6230 will be a lot smaller.

From what I read, the 6600 can go internet via GPRS... MMS... everything else my 7650 does except it can't play MP3s in mono with the built in application? Correct?

i think what he means is that the 6600
uses a new generation of wap
and not a lot of service providers support that yet
so in some cases ppl can't get on the internet

errr dudeZ....if im not wrong....6600 CAN play mp3......jus that u needa use the IR port and PC Suite...so once u transfer a file....it will auto-convert to a .wav file which will play in the sound recorder function

26-11-2003, 16:45

i recommend you 6600 vs wide display and more features!

With a 6230 tho, you don't need anything, you just plug in the headset, and away you go. That's a strong selling point for me.
