this post have been viewed 84 times already with no suggestions whatsoever. It's a pity Nokia keeps adding features but taking out necessary functions as well. With such a high price, it comes with no built-in mp3, no fm tuner, no stopwatch, no countdown timer, no auto keylock, no auto shutoff and it's hard to connect to the internet via gprs especially here in the middle east.
I'm going back to Siemens brand early next year.

Yep, that's true! If only Nokia would supply even a FREE
third party stopwatch or countdown timer application, I CAN FORGIVE THEM. But truly, this small apps should be a standard already on all Nokia. Unfortunately not for 6600.

And you know what? It says in this site:
http://www.mobile-review.com/phonemodels/nokia/nokia-6600-en.shtml
that there is a Stop-watch (up to 20 intermediate results), countdown timer.
How come this site is not careful with their review of mobiles.
This is has actually convinced me to buy 6600 because i read that it has a stopwatch and countdown function with the addition brilliant features . Only to be find out that Nokia deleted this. Really a Shame!

6600 is a symbian based phone, which means that we can install many other free program, so don't worry if 6600 doesn't have a stopwatch, mp3 player, auto swith off, key lock, etc because it will be possible to instal it later on.

Still it doesn't make sense such as standard NOKIA's menu can be found on N6600... ;) Even mine N8250 still has it...

Mr. Eldar Murtazin,
We can debate on this issue all year round but it will never satisfy us one bit. I use to have a Siemens s55. It has most of the functions i've mentioned. And I'm very happy with it. But in my work, i needed a camera and a video built-in on my mobile.
So i looked around and found the Nokia 6600. I researched it and i found this site that says it has it all! So i bought it. I was impressed but after some time, i realized that Nokia took off most of the useful functions such as auto lock, auto shutdown, countdown timer, stereo audio ..etc.... Now i felt cheated. I should have bought the siemens MC60 instead. It's complete! Or i should have waited for the Siemens SX1. It's even better! I must admit, i made a mistake. I shoud have played around with it in the shop itself and took note of the missing functions. But this is all too late now. I REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT VERSIONS. THESE SIMPLE FUNCTIONS SHOULD BE STANDARD FOR ALL VERSIONS OF NOKIA PHONES. FOR ME, NOKIA SHOULD THINK OF THE CONSUMER'S NEED IN MIND. IN THIS THIS WAY IT WILL SUCCEED MORE. NOW IT'S LIKE THEY THEY ARE ADDING NEW TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGHS AT THE EXPENSE OF DELETING THE NECESSARY FUNCTIONS. IT IS MORE LIKE BUYING A BRAND NEW APPLE MACINTOSH G5 BUT WITHOUT THE NECESSARY FUNCTIONS. DO YOU NOW SEE WHAT I MEAN? NOW JUST OBSERVE.....

I don't understand why the hell N6600 also has no autolock keypad feature??? On N7250 it can be set at Settings menu, so emc, are you sure about that???
About the auto shutdown, sorry, I don't get your point... :-/ Is it power saving feature that you tried to mentioned, turn the phone into screen saver display???

Hey man, eccentric, I've read the manual from cover to cover,
I've researched the internet. Guess what? No autolock keypad feature for N6600.

In my siemens s55, I am able to set a time at night at around 11pm for my mobile to automatically shutdown (turn off). Which i believe is a great function. It's saves you battery whenever you forget to put your mobile off at night. Unfortunately, Nokia 6600 hasn't got this function.

Anyway, N6600 is a great mobile. I guess i just have to get by without these functions for a while and wait for FREE 3rd party applications to appear which i believe will take some time if somebody ever notices these irrritating lacks from NOKIA.
People nowadays are becoming more focused on the bigger techno stuffs. They are starting to miss out on the simple, practical and useful functions.
