Siemens has just unveiled its latest mobile phone, the clamshell CL55. The successor to the successful CL50, the CL55 is aimed primarily at the Asian market and features a 65k-colour TFT screen, MMS, extra-long Chinese SMS and an attachable camera accessory.

Looks really nice with Siemens colour theme.
Pity it doesnt have any built-in cam for good MMSing.

Actually I prefer add-on cams, because they allow the phone to be cheaper, and usually have better image quality.;)

Then you can't say that Z600 is heavy becaus add on camera will make this handset even heavier than it already is.

Well you're not going to have the camera attached in your pocket, are you?;)
Besides, the CL55 weighs just 79g, so even with an add-on cam it will be lighter than the Z600.;)

However I rather have built-in cam and yes I would also like to have lighter
clamshell than SE Z600 but I'm not that weak so 105g doesnt bother me at all.

Bad news....
Just heard that it might not come with IrDA or Java.:(
But on the bright side, it is expected to have a relatively low price.

Hardly anyone seems interested in this phone.
Maybe it's because most people here are from Europe and won't be getting it.

I think it looks cheap quality when it comes to the design factor. The light green color is an extremely bad choice for the key structure of the phone. Big antenna, looks like a phone that a grand father would use. I'm sure the menu is user friendly, but Siemens have been disappointing lately.... It seems like most people have been waiting for the Sx-1 for years, and there is no reason why this won't come late...

I don't think it's got so much to do with liking the brand, it's just a new phone, which should but hasn't generated much interest.
Maybe it's because it hasn't got a built-in camera.:insane:

There is no reason why this phone shouldn't be released on time. The SX1 is a much more complicated phone, and every other new phone from Siemens this year has arrived on time. Even the C62, presented a month ago, is already available.

SL 65 AMG has 612 BHP and it manage to do 0 - 100 km/h around 4 seconds.

More specs:
-No Java
-No IrDA
But I doubt those omissions will inhibit sales, as the target market is unlikely to care about these features.

I read in a Chinese website that the CL55 is the same as the Bird V58. See link below:

Yes, its same. Probably Siemens find cheaper ODM producer in Bird company than Quanta.

If you compare this phone and the other clamshells from e.g. motorola, samsung and SE, this one looks really ugly. The others have a more rounded design. I don't like the design of this one. I don't know about the features, but the fact that it has a 65k display, is ok. Couldn't they make an internal antenna? This is u.g.l.y!
