View Full Version : Forum at it's knees?
Is it me or is this forum really really slow now? I have tried on 2 different connecitons to get here the last few days and its always down, I have just managed to get on now.
Are you having too many hits etc?
yeah Ronny today it has been dreadfully slow, it was out earlier today for me also!!
Ronnyuk, true the forums server has been slow lately. I hope this will be fixed soon.

Yeah, I got stuck for 2 hours as well. Anyway I took the time and visited all the other mobile sites like cnetasia.com etc....

Looks like its hosted on Russian servers, I would imagine the server and bandwidth is severly limited, I run a webhosting company and could host this site for free (with a small advert maybe :) ) and move it to a US or UK based server or even just move the English speaking forum?

Looking at it closer it seems to be a router problem with the webhost"masterhost.ru"
The offending router/server is 217.16.20.19

Are the forums pain-stakingly slow at the moment?
Just wanted to check, don't think my connection is on the blink cause everything else is loading up fine and I'm still running at 2mbit. :confused:

yup, its incredibly slow for me too. and yes, i'm on broadband. its taking forever to load a page.

is been slow, compared to other forums like MB...since i joined this forum! may b they need to upgrade their vBulletin version....
seems like MB is running on a higher version...3.0.7 as compared to MR's 3.0.1

MB sucks, sometimes the whole page doesn't load and you have to refresh, you get code in the middle of the page and stuff.. very bad.

yea! but even after u refresh it, the entire process of opening, even after refreshin; even then MB seems to b faster!
also, the amount of hits MR gets is a lot higher. hence is a lot more slower
Doesn't matter. MR is so much better than any forum anyway.

Howardforums has always been fast and there are usually a vast amount of active users in it daily.

As it has been said, everything is back to normal now. 2 days ago, not so normal.

it was minor changes in software on server and some users which are used cache could get database errors. Now things are ok for all users isn't it?

Its fine now for me, but I was having problems trying to access any page the other day. An error sign kept coming up which said something like site temporary problem or something like that
back to normal here too, seems like u were saving the world :lol:
Another problem I'm facing since a couple of days ago: When trying to use the "quote" function, it simply does not react.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
It works fine for me...
Just typing this sentence because you are not allowed to have less than 10 characters.
i get random errors.. like.. problems connecting to the datebase.. sometimes refresh help.. sometimes i have to wait a few seconds
well, I hope this will get fixed with the next server update.

it is becoming more slowly...but maybe the cause isn't mobile-review, because planete-nokia is also slow...
not slow here. not at all, at the moment. lightning quick for me. i mean as quick as it can get on my bandwidth, i guess. perhaps some server problems in some areas.
It still is slower than other sites I visit, but not by much. I think we will all see a better difference when they move it to the new servers.

Karim, it takes 4!!! minutes (and 10 seconds) to search on keyword k750i! (i want to see the big k750i thread but i have't found, because it takes 2 minutes to go to the next page :insane: )

Form one side I glad to say that site is so popular - we have around 175000 unique visitors per day and using 285 Gb bandwidth every day :) On other hand we have some problems with acssess from some countries, hope that it will be solved with upcoming server for forums

good somebody brought this to notice (about MR being slow), compared to this even my normally sloooooooow N70 feels like a ferrari!!
So try watching the M-R forums on your N70. ;)

Its quite tough to moderate too when you cant get to any posts:confused: And editing stuff is a nightmare!!

eldar already stated that some features won't be working till the next few days

And I have a lot issues in the lower taskbar of my IE browser indicating on several pages that there is something wrong.

with IE or M-R? i would place my bets on it being the former, because bugs are what MS is all about.

quotation, input Name etc wont work in a few days. We are trying to find out some bugs and after it go. If we put all things now online then we couldnt localize bugs. Sorry for unconvinience

I experienced some problems with the forum, too. But a significant slowdown only happened on special occasions such as replying, performing a search or something similar. Momentarily I think it's this counter that "hangs" sometimes.

Hey, the forum can't be doing that badly, today at 17.30 MR had the most visitors in its history, 953!!!
that's cuz the server is fianlly changed last saturday, didn't u know?!!
Good work on updating the servers, the site is noticeably faster, hopefully there will be no more problems with it concerning speed...

It's gone back to normal now, maybe the servers were over heated in this heat wave ;)
