I have been looking at the following phones and was wondering what others think about one being better than the others.
Fell free to mention ones I haven't listed. I can wait 2-3 months to get the phone, and don't mind searching for it or ordering it from other countries as long as it will work for T-mobile(GSM) in the USA.(unlocked or whatever)
Samsung E730
Samsung Z500
Motorola V635
Motorola V3
(
I like these, but I really want a flip phone instead:
Sony Ericsson K750
Nokia N91
Samsung D600
)
Needs:
------
Flip/Clamshell
color outside and inside display
bluetooth
camera 1MP+
record video
mp3+aac(ringtones and playing)
decent storage but at least 32MB
Vibration
Games/Java
Pluses:
------
WiFi
WAP
Voice dial
Alarm
Card slot
512MB+
FM radio
Thanks for any input.

Get the V3 the only thing its missing is the Megapixel camera your after.

I like the V3 but having only 5MB, and no video capture might lead me not to choose it.
Samsung E730
Samsung Z500
Motorola V635
They all meet your first criteria and they all have wap/gprs and alarm.
The pluses:
V635 has voice dial
E730 has radio
Z500 and V635 have T-Flash card slot
E730, is the best or V635. DO NOT get the V3 (it only has looks)!!

i would say get the v635 because:
-Vibration [the v635 vibes and rings at the same time, if thats your preference]
-Voice dial [v635 has it, e720 doesn't]
-Alarm [can choose your own mp3 with the v635]
-Card slot [v635 has one. the others don't]
-FM radio [you can buy an attachment for the v635 for about 15-20 quid that gives it FM radio]

Frankiek3,
have you ever seen a SonyEricsson Z800i ?

I saw this for the Z800
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-z800-en.shtml
It seems not much more for double the price. Although it is a nice phone, it looks odd.
I guess its V635 vs. E730
I have seen some specs on these sites for the E730:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_e730-1115.php
http://www.new-mobile.net/
but they aren't the same
Comparing
- - - - - - - - - - V635 - - - - - E730
---------------------------------
FM - - - - - - - - Add-on - - - - Yes
Memory - - - - - 5+tflash - - - 90 or 92+4?
Bluetooth - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
record video - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
Vibration - - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
Java - - - - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
ringtones - - - 32 presets - - - - ?
plays - - - - - - - - MP3 - - - MP3/AAC/MPEG player
Photo call - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
WAP - - - - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
Voice dial - - - - - Yes - - - - - No
Alarm - - - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
Camera - - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
(both 1.3 MP, 1152 x 864 pixels, video, flash)?
Does the ringtone preset mean the amount of ringtones that come with the phone or the amount of customized ringtones allowed, or can I have as many upto how much memory I have?
Are the specs right? Thanks.

Does the ringtone preset
i guess you're referring to the samsung. it means that the sms/alarm/answerphone ringtones are all preinstalled and preset (ie you can't change them. you have a selection of preinstalled ringtones....that is all). i know that on the v635 you can have your own ringtones for everything, although it does have some preinstalled one's (which you can delete).
i think the e730 looks the more stylish of the 2.

Frankiek3,

V635 = 7 Mb + T-Flash
E730 = 92 Mb internal memory
Camera - - - - - - Yes - - - - - Yes
(both 1.3 MP, 1152 x 864 pixels, video, flash)?
E730 has better video recording. (MPEG4 Cif resolution)
ringtones - - - 32 presets - - - - ?
V635 = 30 preset
E730 = 20 preset

Frankie why not V3?

I just can't live with only 5MB, although I like the style.
I do have 2-3 months before I need to buy it so I am not dead set on just the V635 or the E730 (Though I am leaning towards the V635.)
E730 has better video recording. (MPEG4 Cif resolution) E730 video is QCIF resolution.
Card slot [v635 has one. the others don't] Z500 also has card slot.

Do people use 3g a lot?(When they have it.)
Are there any clamshell/flip Smartphones that could outmatch the V635 or E730?
I saw the mpx220 but the screen has less colors.
I might have this phone for awhile (3 years, assuming I don't break it), so I want to have a solid phone.

it came in with a bang but it just seems to be a whimper now. i don't know if that describes it accurately ;).

HEY MAN DO NOT THINK EITHER GO FOR THE XCUTE DV1 OR FOR THE SHARP 902 .
XCUTE IS 3 MEGA PIXEL AND SHARP IS 2 MEGAPIXEL. BOTH ARE EXCELLENT .

You would obviously go for the phone with the better camera.

switch your caps lock off!
Out of the clam shell phones the Moto v635 is the best
and for candybar is the SE K750i is a great phone (I finaly got to play around with this phone for 30 mins in the shop today)

The xcute DV1 does not have bluetooth?
The Sharp V902 is nice. It looks like a regular Camera. It doesn't have voice dialing or an external display, otherwise very nice.
If I could live with a candybar phone the K750 would be a great phone.
The V635 is leading the race followed closely by the E730.
Edit:
Oh my Family is switching over to Cingular, but they are GSM too. There are a lot of 2 free phones plus money back offers(with the 2 year contract), so they will be getting new phones too. Mine will be better
