yes, still samsung needs to run faster to catch up DSLR cameras. Note that in the industry, the only commercially available DSLR's are from Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Pentax, olympus, and Sigma. (Let's exclude some crazy stuff from Fuji or Mamiya or some other crazy stuff from Hasselblad or Rollei)These camera companies have been there for almost 60~70 years of history. I don't think that it will be easy for samsung or sony or Panasonic (a.k.a any electronics manufacturer as defined in contrast to camera optics companies) to successfully introduce a stable line of DSLR's with enough lens collections.

I was actually impressed by the fact that it's using Schneider optics. I'm sure that it's the first time for the Zeiss Rival to enter large lens equiped amature high end digital camera. (Of course, there are lenses are DSLR's and medium and large format cameras). Let's see how the battle goes between Sony F828. It's Carl Zeiss vs Schneider Kreuznach~! The only two rivals in optics industry:) I prefer Zess lenses, but I think that's just my preference. Zeiss lens will produce brightish and colorful quality with high contrast. Canon lens stem fro Zeiss Optics. Schneider makes extremely sharp and objective contrast and color reproduction with realistic meterings. It's Nikon which made Nikkor lens based on Schneider. Just as how Canon and Nikon are the two competitors in the camera market, Zeiss and Schneider are perhaps the only two most contrasting rivals in optics industry

I think the Kodak one was based on Nikon body, and the lens was also Nikkor lens. As for normal cameras, Kodak had Schneider lenses though
what is the price of this camera that you all estimated???

oTaRu, I guess around 800$ in Korea? In America it should be much cheaper though. Something like 600$? It's just my guess.

Although I do think that this camera can certainly put down sony 828 and majorities of other high end cameras, I don't think that this makes samsung techwin (military/camera company) at the same level of Canon. Unfortunately, samsung P816 is far from the technologies used in professional small formate DSLRs, not even to mention Digital back medium format cameras like Mamiya and Hasselblads. However, the ones which are mostly available to general customers are upto high end cameras. Certainly this is an improvement from the samsung V series.

sunystory@hotmail.com,
So this camera is not so good?
It looks very powerful:D

Exciting700, no, the camera itself is very good. But when we are to compare with DSLR's, it doesn't make competitions. DSLR by nature is a different class from non dslr. Of course, Dtslr or dflr are comparable. It will place samsung into one of the best high end camera producer, but it ain't going to make samsung into Canon or Nikon. Samsung needs a DSLR, which would hopefully release.

Exciting700, yeah. The LCD is the largest and highest quality in the market for cameras. I'm very curious of how they've implemented the ccd.:)
