I just bought the 256mb N200 from Fry's Electronics about 2 days ago, and it's already broken. At first the volume became impossible to adjust, and several hours later the player simply turned off. When I turn the power on, it begins to start of, but dies again before a song gets a chance to play. I already considered that the battery may be out because I listened to it almost nonstop between when I bought it and when it broke, but I replaced the batteries about 3 times to make sure the batteries weren't old ones my sister had just left in the drawer.
I would like to know if there are any solutions to this problem, or if the player is simply a lemon and it's worth replacing.
Thank you.

that's what's happending to mine too. my volume is ok, but first it started off with messed up folder names. like i'd switch folders, but it doesn't do anything and the player'd freeze for a while and u'd have to keep switching around till it works. then the player started shutting off on it's own. and when i try to turn it on, you get to see the 'CREATIVE' logo, then with a blink, the player goes off again. Or it goes on, plays on song and turns off by itself. seriously, what kind of crap is this? and the annoying buzzing sound that goes on when you press buttons. it's the worst thing i've spend money on, and if anyone's planning to buy one, forget about it, because it's so bad that i'm planning to burn mine.
thats happenin to me too
when ever i touch either of the volume controls it shuts the thing off
everything else works too
I just went through the same problem after having mine for a month. I was ready to send it in for service (replacement) when I figured I'd take a shot at upgrading the firmware first. If you press and hold the button on the front as you attach it to the USB cable and continue to hold it for about ten seconds, it goes into "Recovery Mode". Release the button when the New Hardware wizard pops up and through the wizard it looks like it reloads the firmware even if you aren't upgrading. After that, it was functional again. The instructions at the website for upgrading firmware are more complete so I'd advise that you check them out first. I'm still having problems loading files that previously loaded without a problem . . . but it's always the same set of files. WTF??!! The documentation is SO poor and the "Creative MediaSource Organizer" is SO bad . . . I don't think I'd buy a MuVo again.
