As far as I am concerned the only problem with the NW-HD3 has been the volume ie it is too damn low.
I have now come across a volume hack which works by putting the player into test mode and then turning off the sound pressure regulation setting. All you need to know is here:

I have now completed the hack on my NW-HD3 and there is a SERIOUS increase in the ability to turn up the amps
