If i have ordered a mini ipod off the website, can i return it and get my money back?
What website? What country are you in?
In the UK distence selling laws state that you have the right to return the product (unopened) for a full refund (excluding postage) within 7 days of purchase.

I have opened the postage box but not the ipod package. Can i ring them up about it and ask them? But is it pefectly legal to get a full refund?
So long as the product has not been used yes.
Just call them and say you want to return it, you dont need to give a reason, so long as its within 7 days of delivery you are legally alowed it.

is it still possible to send the item back after 7 days if it is unused?
I dont know....all you can do is phone them after the back holiday weekend and see what they say.
Unless anyone else can shed any light on the legal position? Ive only done consumer law as part of my HND in business!

Sweaty Bottom,
moved to "portable audio/video" section.
By european law it should be 14days (=2weeks), though I cannot give any proof & the UK does not always fully comply w/ EU-laws, check their website for terms & conditions, they must display that somewhere as you need to agree before ordering
benrk, UK Distance Selling Regulations allow for return of an unused product within 7 days, minus the cost of shipping. Its not that the UK dosnt comply with EU laws, we have an opt out. The opt out exists partially because the EU tried to lower British Kite Mark Safety Standards to bring them in line with the EU's lower standards.
And our parliaments need some thing to do!
did you manage to get it retuned?
